A big thank you to our wonderful team for getting out and about at two fantastic careers expos in the South Island! 😊

Prachi, our Southland and Otago Client Services Manager, represented Florence Nightingale Agency at the Otago Polytechnic Expo 2026 and CareerFest Southland 2026, joined by one of our amazing nurses, Alex.

In Ōtepoti Dunedin, the Otago Polytechnic Expo was a great opportunity to connect with students, graduates and job seekers, share more about FNA and the opportunities available in the health and support sector, and strengthen our connections with education providers and the wider community.

Down in Southland, CareerFest Southland brought together more than 3,000 people, including students, job seekers, training providers and employers. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase FNA, talk to people interested in nursing and support work, and connect with adults, parents and guardians considering a career change into the sector.

We loved meeting so many people passionate about making a difference in the community and sharing the career opportunities available with Florence Nightingale Agency ❤✨

And of course, a special shout-out to our nurse Alex, pictured here representing the team! 😊

Throughout July in recognition of Matariki, our South Island offices came together to collect kai for local food banks, supporting organisations that provide an important lifeline to people and whānau in our communities. 🏘️

Our Christchurch office was collecting for Hungry Ministries Trust, who have been supporting local families through their 0800 Hungry service since 2001. Their team delivers food parcels directly to people’s homes, with around 160 homes receiving food each week.

This incredible work is made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers, with around 120 volunteers contributing each week. They offer a wide range of opportunities, meaning there’s a way for people with all sorts of skills and abilities to get involved and make a meaningful difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated throughout July. Your generosity helps support the amazing mahi being done in our communities. ❤️

As we continue introducing the incredible people who make up our Florence Nightingale Agency whānau, we're delighted to introduce Prachi Didmishe, our Client Services Manager for Southland and Otago 🌟

Kia ora koutou, I'm Prachi!

With over 10 years of experience in healthcare, I have worn many hats in my journey - from clinical-medical training and research background to healthcare management in both residential and community settings, aged care and diversional therapy.

Having worked across both private and not-for-profit organizations. I'm passionate about combining a data-driven approach with person-centred care and working alongside great teams to support positive outcomes for our clients.

When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me exploring local walking trails, volunteering in the community, or spending time with animals. I'm a huge animal lover, so feel free to share photos of your pets when you see me!

I'm really enjoying being a part of the Florence Nightingale Agency team as we work together supporting our clients, whānau, support workers, and communities throughout Southland and Otago.

Our latest blog on falls prevention was developed with support from Linda, one of our amazing Registered Nurses, who is passionate about helping people stay safe, confident, and independent in their own homes.

"Falls can have a devastating effect on people's lives. With this in mind I feel it is important that as a company we provide resources and support to manage falls risks in people's own homes." – Linda Blakemore, RN Special Interest Quality

From practical home safety tips and strength-building exercises to medication reviews and bone health, this article is packed with simple, actionable advice for older New Zealanders, whānau, and carers.

Meet the team 👋

Say kia ora to Tim McEvoy, our new Flexible Supports Manager, who joined the team at the beginning of this year!

Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Tim has been hard at work supporting disabled people, whānau, and teams across the region as part of our Flexible Supports service.

Tim brings experience from his work with Mana Whaikaha and the Enabling Good Lives approach, where he’s focused on self-direction, choice, and control. He also brings valuable lived experience, having supported his adult son to self-direct his own supports over many years.

He’s passionate about flexible, person-led support that upholds mana and wellbeing, and is looking forward to working alongside our teams and communities.

Autism Dads are hosting an event later this month in Christchurch for dads to connect, share a coffee, and support each other in a relaxed, judgement-free space ⭐ Read the post caption for more details!

Our Christchurch dads are getting together next week for their 1st catch up of the year 🙏🤩
If you would like to come along to have a coffee & a chat with other dads who are keen to hear your story, send us a DM so we can let the team know that you are coming.
Our Auckland Dads group is doing so well and we want to create the same safe space for our dads in CHCH & every other town where there are dads keen to connect on this journey 💙
Almost all of our dads found it a bit nerve-wracking to come to one of our catch ups in Auckland but every time our dads have walked away saying the same thing…”Im so glad I came”. There is no judgement, no expectation. Its just dads who share the same struggles getting together & checking in on one another. It definitely gives you strength knowing you are not alone. Our shout. We got you 😊 email us at [email protected] for more details 🙏

It’s New Zealand Sign Language Week!

Did you know that New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s official languages, alongside te reo Māori? NZSL is an important part of our culture and helps connect Deaf and hearing communities across the motu.

Deaf Aotearoa has put together a great resource below to help you learn how to sign your name and use a basic greeting; a simple but meaningful way to get started.

Learning NZSL is one way we can help make Aotearoa a more inclusive and accessible place for our Deaf and hard of hearing friends, whānau, and community members.

Why not give it a go this week and learn something new? 🌟
