Mind Garden Hypnotherapy

Mind Garden Hypnotherapy Sara at Mind Garden Hypnotherapy and Mind Garden Kids is a qualified and registered Hypnotherapist

Sara is a clinical hypnotherapist with a practice at her home in Christchurch, New Zealand. Sara originally trained as a primary school teacher in England and taught in both London and New Zealand. She became in interested in Hypnosis when she was studying to be a teacher and often used relaxation and visualisation within the classroom setting. Later on when she came to New Zealand she became much

more interested in hypnotherapy and did extensive research which gave her a much deeper understanding of clinical hypnotherapy and its applications. A few years later when she became pregnant with her first child she decided to do Hypnobirthing. That experience changed her life! “I just couldn’t believe that I would be able to give birth without any pain but that is exactly what happened”. It was then that she decided to study to be a hypnotherapist but with a new baby to look after it was a few years later that she finally enrolled on the Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnotherapy course offered by the Professional School of Hypnotherapy and is currently completing her final portfolio. When Sara’s son, Jake, was diagnosed with Leukemia, she used hypnotherapy in a number of ways to help him. Part of his treatment involved taking pills, sometimes up to 10 a day. As the chemo made him sicker he built up an aversion to taking the pills to the point where he would feel sick or vomit if they were even mentioned. She ended up taking him to a fantastic hypnotherapist and the change was amazing. He came out of the first session saying I can take my pills now and Sara came out thinking “That is what I want to do”. Sara now enjoys working with children, especially those who are facing the challenges of illness. She continues to enjoy providing a free monthly relaxation and stress relief session to the mothers and fathers at the Child Cancer Foundation.

He knew he had to take the medication… but his body just wouldn’t let him.

In this deeply moving part of Sara Wilson’s story, she shares the moment her young son struggled to take vital medication during his leukemia treatment, and how that experience became one of the reasons she returned to hypnotherapy.

This is such a powerful reminder that sometimes the mind and body need support in ways we don’t always expect.
