❄Stay Active in Winter ❄
Do you struggle to keep active in winter?
You know you should, but the weather outside isn’t so enticing?
Then perhaps these top 5 tips will help get you started...
1: Be Active in times of the day you feel most energy
If you try and force yourself to exercise when tired, it’s an uphill battle. Pick times in the day you feel most energy and start there.
2: Chose an activity you’ll enjoy the most, or make it fun yourself
Dance, walk, run, step ups…. whatever it is make it as fun as possible! Play some of your favourite tunes that will get you moving, and it’ll help keep the positive vibes going.
3: Set some goals and celebrate them
Remembering the LONG TERM benefit of being active can help motivate, but building small achievable goals into your plan is great! Start small and build up. And remember every evening to reflect on what went well in regards to exercise that day (even if it was to buy some thermals so you can get out in the cold the next day…. progress over perfection!).
4: Work out in your lunch breaks
If not keen to get out before or after work, then a walk or workout at lunchtime could be the best solution! Thinking about what you can hear, see, touch and taste (left over from your lunch?!) whilst walking can also really relax your mind too from the business of life.
5: Activity over exercise
Don’t just think of exercise as the only ‘good’ thing. Just getting active is most important. Park further away from the supermarket, get going on the housework or gardening, running races with the kids at the park...it all adds up so make sure you include them in your celebration reflection!
