Today is WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY!

Today is to recognise the work that physios do to support the health and wellbeing of their clients.

Further this year the theme for World Physiotherapy Day is to highlight the role of physiotherapists in prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and strokes.

Increasing your physical activity and/or keeping active is the key to health for all ages. Physios play an important role in supporting people to get active and keep active.

A shout out to my AMAZING team at Physio NZ, Happy World Physiotherapy Day!

Women’s Health Week, 10th – 16th August

This week is Women's Health Week and strength training has many benefits for women's health, here are 5 benefits of strength training for women... 💪

1. Improved Bone Health: Strength training helps increase bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, which is particularly beneficial for women, especially as they age.

2. Injury Prevention: Strengthening muscles and improving joint stability through resistance training can help prevent common injuries, such as strains and sprains, which are more prevalent in women due to differences in anatomy and biomechanics.

3. Enhanced Metabolism: Building lean muscle mass through strength training boosts metabolism, aiding in weight management and promoting overall metabolic health, which is particularly relevant for women dealing with hormonal fluctuations.

4. Functional Independence: Strengthening key muscle groups improves functional capacity, making daily tasks easier and reducing the risk of age-related declines in mobility and independence.

5. Mental Well-being: Engaging in regular strength training can enhance mood, reduce stress, and boost self-confidence, contributing to better overall mental well-being, which is essential for women juggling various roles and responsibilities.
