🍀💚The Gift of Kawakawa to Papatūānuku🍀💚
Following the separation, Papatūānuku was left heartbroken and grieving. To help heal her profound sadness, she was gifted the kawakawa plant.

Symbolism of the Heart: The leaves of the kawakawa plant are heart-shaped, directly representing the "broken heart" of Papatūānuku after being separated from Ranginui.

Healing the Land:
Tāne clothed his mother, Papatūānuku, in forests and greenery to comfort her. The kawakawa was included as a, if not the, significant rongoā (medicine) to heal her emotional and physical pain.
A Gift from Above: In some traditions, it is said that kawakawa was sent to Papatūānuku from Io Mātua Kore (the supreme, infinite consciousness) to alleviate her heartbreak.
