Seven Days, Seven Conversations: making it easier to talk about death and dying
I’m really proud to have been involved in Nurse Maude Seven Days, Seven Conversations podcast initiative for Dying Matters Week Aotearoa alongside the wonderful Grace, a palliative care registered nurse and Korowai facilitator supporting caregiver education.
I think this is such a great initiative, creating space for conversations around dying, death, grief, education, what matters to us and how we can talk about these things more openly in our communities.
I was lucky enough to be involved through my role as a Spiritual Care Volunteer with Nurse Maude , something I was drawn to through my work and training as an End of Life Doula and as a Professional Member of End of Life Doula Alliance Aotearoa . I feel very privileged to be able to bring the skills, experience and perspective from my Doula work into the way I support people at Nurse Maude, as well as privately in the community.
I’ve also really enjoyed listening to the other conversations in the series. Julia, Claire, Sonya and Helen have each brought valuable knowledge, experiences and perspectives, which are super important.
We don’t need to have all the answers to talk about death and dying well. Sometimes it’s simply about being willing to start the conversation, listen and be present.
Please, if you can, listen, share and support the series. The more we show there is interest in these conversations, the more space we can create for them in our communities!💚
A big thank you to Grace and Nurse Maude for creating this space and to Go With Grace for your incredible mahi with Dying Matters Week 2026.🌿
For dying matters, we've released the seven days, seven conversations podcast series. A podcast about helping people talk more openly about death, dying and palliative care.
