Neck pain in dogs can be easy to miss, but it may point to more serious issues like arthritis, IVDD, or nerve problems.

⚠️ Watch for:
• Reluctance to move their head
• Yelping with a collar or touch
• Head held low or hunched posture
• Limping or unsteady movement
• Changes in mood or appetite

Gorgeous girl, O***a, has been doing super well lately — including handling all the stairs during a recent Akaroa trip like a champ! 💪

At her session, Abigail focused on managing thoracolumbar back tightness and sensitivity through the mid-back and thoracolumbar junction. Treatment included:

✨ Laser therapy
✨ Soft tissue massage
✨ Gentle spinal and pelvic mobilisations
✨ Tail pulls and segmental traction
✨ Stretching and comfort support with a warm wheat bag

She relaxed beautifully once we got the warmth on her back ❤️

We also continue to monitor her hind limb corns and incidental gluteal tendon calcification from her racing days, both of which are being managed conservatively.

Greyhounds are incredibly athletic dogs and often benefit from regular physiotherapy to help keep them comfortable, mobile, and enjoying life!

🐾 Maggie's Physio days after Bilateral TPLO Surgery 🐾

Our long term physio patient, Maggie, is starting her recovery journey after bilateral TPLO surgery for cranial cruciate ligament disease 💙

Her right knee had a complete cruciate rupture with meniscal damage, while the left had a partial tear caught before full rupture.

Her early rehab focused on pain management, swelling reduction, and gentle mobility with:
❄️ Cold compression therapy
✨ Laser therapy
👐 Massage and joint mobilisation
🐕 Passive range of motion exercises

The first few days after orthopaedic surgery can be tough — for both patients and owner — but early physiotherapy helps improve comfort, mobility, and long-term outcomes every step of the way. Maggie's family are doing such a great job supporting her recovery 🐕💙

Stevie is recovering after her left femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery and is already making gentle progress 💙

Early on she was still non-weight bearing when walking, she was however beginning to toe-touch when standing and is remaining comfortable at home. Early rehabilitation is focused on restoring hip range of motion, reducing muscle tightness, and encouraging safe movement around the house.

Physiotherapy techniques introduced include:
✨ Passive range of motion exercises
✨ Hip joint compressions
✨ Massage therapy
✨ Gentle movement encouragement
Stevie will continue to see us for underwater treadmill management.

A huge part of successful FHO recovery is consistent home care, patience, and controlled movement and Stevie’s family are doing an amazing job already!
