Almost every patient asks me the same questions: why did I get a hernia? What did I do wrong?
Usually, nothing.
A hernia needs two things — a weak spot in the abdominal wall, and pressure pushing against it. The weakness is often already there, sometimes since birth. The heavy box, or the afternoon in the garden, is usually the moment you noticed it rather than the moment it formed.
Swipe for the five things that actually cause them.
