🌿 A FAREWELL FROM THE NATIVE SOUL NZ WHĀNAU 🌿

After many years of calling this beautiful place home, the time has come for our whānau to make a big move — back home to our whānau homestead in the North 10min from Kai Iwi Lakes so if your heading up to camp and need a relashing,a pou, muka pito cutter or a kawakawa balm call in. 🤎

This place has been our home where we have raised our tamariki and the place where Native Soul NZ has grown, shaped and built alongside our whānau and our community.

We are honestly going to miss you all. 🥹
The connections, the familiar faces, the kōrero, the wānanga, the healing, the support, the kura and the beautiful community that has welcomed our little whānau business over the years.

Native Soul NZ has always been a whānau business working alongside our tamariki, built with aroha, hard work, connection and a whole lot of heart. Thank you for allowing us to share our mahi, our taonga and our healing with you. 🌿

We officially leave at the start of November, so if you have been meaning to come and see us, pick something up, have a kōrero, or get one last relaxing / mirimiri before we head North, now is the time. 🤎

We’ll still be around right up until we go, so drop-ins and drop-offs are welcome before Friday the 30th of October. We’d love to see as many of you as we can before we leave.

And although we’ll be saying goodbye to the hand-to-hand exchanges and those beautiful local connections, this definitely isn’t goodbye forever.

You can still post your taonga to us, and we’ll continue to be here for you from up North. If you need something, reach out — our doors may be moving, but Native Soul NZ isn’t disappearing.

To everyone who has supported us, purchased from us, trusted us, shared our posts, attended our wānanga, brought your whānau through our doors, or simply stopped for a kōrero…we will miss you all

✨ A Special Taonga for a Special Milestone ✨

A beautiful 21.5cm long toki was lovingly created for a very special matua celebrating his 70th birthday.

This meaningful taonga has now made its way across the Tasman and has been sent to Australia, ready to be gifted and cherished.

What a beautiful gift to receive at 70 — a piece carrying strength, mana, love and meaning, made to be treasured for generations. 🌀🌿

One of our lovely clients recently visited for a pounamu relash and also chose a beautiful pounamu to take home. Amongst it all, she shared this incredible piece of Aotea she had found we also relashed that too — what an absolute gem! 💙💚Every piece of Aotea tells its own story, shaped by nature over millions of years, and it's always special to see what fellow rock hunters discover.

We absolutely love connecting with others who share the same passion for exploring Aotearoa's natural treasures. Whether you're searching riverbeds, beaches, or hidden spots, every find is an adventure worth celebrating.

Monday Mahi 🤎

Two relashes completed on Monday for our cousin before he heads across the ditch.
Wherever life takes you, your whakapapa is always with you.

It's always inspiring to see another carver's mahi. Every piece tells its own story, carries its own wairua, and reflects the hands and heart of the person who created it.

Here's a beautiful pounamu relashing, finished with a fresh technique featuring beads woven into the whipping cord. A subtle touch that adds something unique while complementing the timeless beauty of the taonga.

Tēnā koutou e te whānau,

We wanted to share a quick update with you all.

Over the next 8 weeks, we will be limiting our workload to smaller and simpler carving projects while one of our carvers takes time to recover from hand surgery. As all of our carving is completed by hand, this means we will need to temporarily step back from larger and more intricate commissions.

Please join us to do a karakia for a smooth and speedy recovery and we look forward to having them back in the studio doing what they love.

Aroha mai for any inconvenience this may cause, and Nga mihi for your patience, understanding, and ongoing awhi as we navigate the weeks ahead.

This hand-carved pounamu was shaped as a single heart, then gently split into two, one for each sister.

Though separated in there own life journeys they remain forever connected, carrying the same mauri, the same story, the same love.
