Weight loss surgery does not come with one set of instructions. What works six weeks after a gastric sleeve or gastric bypass is not what works at eighteen months, and almost nobody is warned about that in advance.
For most of your life, the message was less. Less sugar, less bread, smaller portions, start again Monday.
Then you have surgery and the message inverts. More protein. More fluid. More often. It feels backwards to be working at eating more while you are actively losing weight, but in those first months that is genuinely the task.
Then time passes. Portions grow. Hunger returns. Most people read that as their own failure and go quiet about it. It is not failure. It is the phase your biology was always going to move into, and it has its own strategy.
And for some people a GLP-1 becomes part of the picture, and everything flips again. Smaller portions, quieter appetite, back to chasing protein and fluid.
person, being told the whole way through that they should have this sorted by now.
This is why we do not hand you a diet sheet and wave you off. Follow-up runs to two years, at 1, 4, 8, 12, 18 and 24 months, with our dietitian alongside it, because the right plan at month four is not the right plan at month twenty.
Wherever you are in it, there is a strategy for that phase.
Send this to someone in year two who thinks they are going backwards.
