For over a decade, Leeann Waaka has served as Tumuaki of Te Ao Mārama - Aotearoa Māori Dental Association, leading with mana, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our kaupapa: Hei oranga niho mō te iwi Māori.
During this time, Leeann has been a tireless advocate for Māori oral health, equity, and the advancement of our professions. Her contribution has reached far beyond the association itself - challenging systems, amplifying Māori voices, creating opportunities, and always keeping the wellbeing of our people at the heart of the mahi.
Through changing times and challenges, Leeann has remained steadfast in the kaupapa and true to the vision of Te Ao Mārama. Her leadership has helped pave the way for those coming through behind her and strengthened the foundations for the future of Māori oral health.
As Leeann moves into an exciting new chapter following our recent AGM, we celebrate everything she has given to Te Ao Mārama over the past 12 years. Her contribution and legacy will continue to shape the association and the wider Māori oral health space for years to come.
E rere ana ngā mihi matakuikui ki a koe, Leeann, i tō manawanui, tō kaha, tō tautoko me tō tino ū ki te kaupapa. He wā hou tēnei, engari ko te kaupapa tonu - Hei oranga niho mō te iwi Māori! 🖤🦷❤️
