We’re excited to now be offering Friday sauna sessions 😍

Whether you’re coming solo, with a friend, or bringing the whānau, we’d love to welcome you to unwind in one of our regular sauna sessions.

Three guided sauna rounds, cooling-off breaks, and our signature aufguss rituals to ease into the weekend.

Sessions will be running 3pm-7pm through the rest of the colder months. Bookings open now!

Hey I’m Simon. I am the owner of The Sauna Project Tairāwhiti. I was born and raised inland from Gizzy on our family farm.

I’m passionate about creating spaces that are relaxed, inclusive and most importantly authentic. I feel as if this creates a vessel for feeling apart of something bigger. I have also always been passionate about nature and our connection to it.

The sauna business startup was definitely a combination of luck and divine timing. The Sauna Project crew were just hatching the idea and when I listened to my heart I felt a very strong yes to join and grow sauna culture in New Zealand.

I love the sauna not only for the multiple health benefits, but also the community and connections we make in the sauna. The Aufguss is a really unique multi-sensory experience which smells great too hahah

It was such a gift to share the healing benefits of sauna with our tamariki and rangatahi. This community-focused event, held at the local skatepark, brought the whole whānau together.

It was such a unique experience having 15 children in the sauna, guessing the “flavours” of each infusion. One teenage guest even suggested to his friends this is way better than va**ng 😅

We’re so grateful to be able to be positive role models for our youth in this way 🤍 Big thanks to Te Ora Hou Te Tairāwhiti

Such an amazing day out at Whāngārā Marae, celebrating Mānawatia a Matariki.

The sauna was there to represent the Matariki star within the cluster, symbolising wellbeing and a time to slow down.
