Steve Stenersen (New Zealand)-International Optician of the Year finalist.

A highly respected New Zealand dispensing optician, educator and practice owner, Steve has given enormously to the profession throughout his career. From generously providing hands-on practical teaching and mentorship to generations of students, to co-authoring the Australian and New Zealand Practical Optical Dispensing textbook, Steve’s influence extends across education, practice and professional standards.

A Life Member of ADONZ - Association of Dispensing Opticians of New Zealand, he continues to contribute to the advancement of dispensing opticianry through education, professional assessment and the ongoing development of scope of practice. Steve’s career is a remarkable example of leadership, generosity and lifelong service.

Really proud to share that our Dispensing Optician, Steve Stenersen has been named as a finalist for the IOA Optician of the Year Award!

This is a truly incredible achievement and a huge honour. Representing New Zealand on an international stage is something to be incredibly proud of. To also do so from the small town of Gisborne makes this achievement even more remarkable.

This is also a particularly special achievement, as Steve was previously nominated for the same award in 2020. To be recognised once again is a testament to his continued dedication, expertise and passion to the optical profession.

Congratulations Steve, this achievement is so well deserved! 🏆
