We are hosting a free fantastic night for young parents (24 years and under).

Whether you are currently hapū (pregnant) or have a pepi (baby), you are welcome to join us!

Dinner will be provided which will give you a chance to connect other young parents, followed by two guest educational speakers and dessert. Let us know if you are needing transportation as we can arrange this for you 🙌

This week in our groups we have been talking Compassionate Communication! How to identify and share your internal experience with a purpose to connect and deeper understand one another. Remove the moral judgement and assumptions, just "I am feeling..." And being clear about what you need. We we can communicate without holding someone else responsible for our feelings, it frees them to work with us to find understanding and connection. Be clear. And listen.

As mothers, it's our job to meet the needs of our young. To keep them safe. To support their growth. To love them. Care for them. Be attuned to their needs. This in itself is a huge undertaking. We're responsible for the survival and development of another life. But in our modern western culture, we're often overwhelmed with countless other tasks, both physical and mental, that require time, attention and energy. If you find doing all of this on your own completely overwhelming, there's nothing wrong with you, it's a normal response to an abnormal environment. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a mother, with a village around her. This looks different in our culture. It might look like shared meals. Hiring a cleaner. Getting groceries delivered. Doing childcare swaps. But most importantly, having other woman that support you emotionally. That remind you that you're not alone. That what you're doing is a lot and it's hard but it's important. This is your life's work and it will out live you. But you don't have to do it alone.
