π¨ IMPORTANT POST AHEAD π¨
Influenza A is hitting hard right now. Hospitals and emergency departments across the motu are under real pressure this winter. Hereβs how you can look after yourself, your whΔnau, and know where to go if you need care.
Keeping yourself and others safe:
π€§ Cover coughs and sneezes
π§Ό Wash your hands often
π If youβre unwell, stay home and rest. Fluids and rest go a long way
π Itβs not too late to get your flu vaccine this year, itβs a good match for whatβs going around. Give us a call to book in.
If youβre pregnant, have a young baby, are over 65, or have a chronic health condition, please donβt wait and see. Get in touch with us sooner rather than later if youβre feeling unwell.
If youβre unwell, call us first. Weβll triage you over the phone and get you seen in person if you need to be.
Outside our opening hours? Youβre still covered. Just call our usual 0800 number after hours, and youβll be connected to Practice Plus, our after-hours partner, for free/low-cost GP advice or consultation. No need to travel or sit in a busy waiting room.
When to seek urgent help:
Call 111 or go to ED straight away for: difficulty breathing, blue or grey lips, chest pain, severe drowsiness or confusion, a baby/child who is floppy, unresponsive, or working hard to breathe, or anything else that feels seriously wrong. Trust your instincts.
For everything else, even if youβre not sure, call us first. We can help you figure out the right next step, day or night.
