Big news: Braemar Hospital has been named winner of the Logiqc Safety Culture Award at the NZ Private Surgical Hospitals Association 2026 Awards. 🏆

A national award, decided against strong competition, and one we're incredibly proud to bring home.

Our winning entry put the spotlight on our Evidence-Based Leadership Programme, and how it's helped embed psychological safety to learn from mistakes into the way our teams lead, communicate and support one another to make lives better.

Special thanks to our Quality and Risk Manager, Laura Houchen, and Clinical Nurse Educator, Jos Itayi, for their leadership on this. As well as every one of our leaders and staff who share opportunities to learn, even if it's what not to do, and champion psychological safety day in, day out. 👏

Blue buns, big impact.

Yesterday our staff morning tea got a splash of blue - Baker's Delight blue-sprinkle buns, in support of Blue September and men's health.

Here's something most people don't know: Braemar Hospital is home to the only da Vinci surgical robot in the Waikato. For men facing prostate cancer, it means smaller incisions, faster recovery, and better outcomes - thanks to the skill of our urologists putting this technology to work every day.

A blood test can catch prostate cancer early. A conversation with your GP costs nothing. This September, have both.

🎉 A big moment for Braemar Hospital, our 100th robotic surgery!

Since our da Vinci surgical robot, the only one of its kind in the Waikato, performed its very first operation in October 2025, it's been a remarkable journey. We just recently celebrated patient number 100! 💙

Our patients have felt the difference: smaller incisions, faster recovery, and less time in hospital.

As Braemar marks its centenary year, this milestone is the perfect symbol of what's ahead for the next 100 years of Making Lives Better for our Waikato community.

A huge thank you to our incredible surgeons and surgical teams for making this possible, and to every patient who has trusted us with their care. 🙏

Stars in the kitchen and stars in the workplace. Braemar Hospital staff celebrated Wellness Week, keeping Mataraki front of mind.

Shared kai for all staff was a hit during the week. Our kitchen team shined, and Hinetai's fry bread was an absolute hit.

We think it's time for you to enjoy a wintertime warm fuzzy. 🫶

Someone's got to get our special Centenary Braemar teddy bears dressed and ready for their days getting cuddles by our young patients.

Thanks to Portia Johnson, general assistant, our teddy bears are wearing their centenary best as we celebrate this incredible milestone year. Now that's a good work story.

The best medicine comes with a cuddle and every child who comes through our doors gets to take home their very own Braemar bear. 💙
