Choice matters. But understanding your choices matters even more.
Funerals have changed.
Today, families have more choices than ever before, from a traditional funeral or intimate farewell, to cremation without a service, natural burial, personalised ceremonies, spending time with someone who has died, or creating something entirely their own.
We think that choice is a good thing.
But when someone has died, families are often being asked to make important decisions at one of the most difficult and unfamiliar times in their lives.
That's where good funeral directing matters.
Our role isn't to tell a family what their funeral should look like.
It's to slow things down.
To explain what's possible.
To talk openly about costs.
To answer the questions people sometimes feel uncomfortable asking.
And to give families enough information and confidence to make the choices that feel right for them.
Sometimes that means doing things traditionally.
Sometimes it means doing things very differently.
After serving Hawke's Bay families since 1878, one thing we've learned is that there is no single "right" way to say goodbye.
There is simply the way that feels right for you.
Our job is to help you find it.
