Did you know? Centuries ago, tablecloths were once a quiet symbol of wealth, used not only for decoration, but to reflect status, care, and attention to detail. Today, across many homes and cultures, laying a tablecloth carries a deeper meaning. It’s a simple yet powerful gesture of warmth, respect, and hospitality. An unspoken way of saying, “You are welcome here.” 💚

At HBH, we cherish these small but meaningful moments. Our residents are always encouraged to take part in everyday activities that bring a sense of purpose and belonging, like preparing the dining room. During our recent ANZAC Day celebration, Margaret and Kay from the Sale community proudly stepped forward, working alongside the care team to dress the tables for everyone.

It may seem like a simple act, but in moments like these, something beautiful happens, connection is strengthened, purpose is felt, life fully lived, and dignity shines through. These are the moments that truly bring to life our Eden Principle 6: Creating opportunities to do things that we find meaningful is essential to human health.

Residents from all communities at Howick Views, alongside our Gulf Views residents, spent ANZAC Day in a beautiful spirit of unity and remembrance. With hands busy creating poppies, spaces gently adorned for the occasion, and hearts gathered in a moving church service, the day was filled with meaning, connection, and shared gratitude.

In the warmth of togetherness, we honour those who once stood strong for us. Their legacy lives on in every life they touched. Lest we forget.

Behind every poppy is a story. This Anzac Day, residents at Howick Views and Gulf Views shared theirs with us, of those who went, those who waited, and those who did not come home.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us with a memory.

Pages may turn like seasons, but the magic within stories remains forever young. This week at Howick Views, we celebrate hearts that have journeyed through many chapters and still find joy in every new story. 📖

At HBH, our lifestyle coordinators and care team have always encouraged residents to embrace the joy of reading, not only books, but also magazines, journals, and newspapers too. These small daily moments of reading do more than just to inform; they uplift, connect, and inspire. 💚

Happy World Book Day! ✨

Did you know? The classic card game Rummy has been delighting players since the early 1900s, with roots tracing back to Mexico. While a little luck keeps things exciting, it’s the strategy that truly wins the day. Every card picked, every discard watched, and every move carefully planned sharpens memory, focus, and quick thinking of the players.

At HBH, the ladies of Seymour Community brought their A-game, gathering around the table with laughter, friendly rivalry, and plenty of clever plays. With gentle guidance from our care partner Jojo, each round became more than just a game, it was a moment of connection, confidence, and joy.

These shared experiences beautifully reflect our Eden Alternative Principle 2: Creating an elder-centred environment where meaningful relationships grow, and life is enriched through ongoing connection with others. 💚

Residents from across all communities at Howick Views gathered for a musical afternoon, swaying, smiling, and singing along to the uplifting tunes of Christopher Bligh, proving that music truly speaks to the heart, no matter the age.

Meanwhile, in Sale community, Anka marked her 91st birthday surrounded by the people who matter most, her family and the caring team by her side. The staff surprised her with a beautifully crafted, flower-filled cake which added an extra layer of joy, turning a lovely celebration into a truly unforgettable moment.

These shared experiences reflect the heart of our Eden Principle 6: where meaningful moments, connection, and celebration are not just activities, but essential ingredients for a life fully-lived. 💚

Did you know? “Pass the Balloon” is a playful twist on the classic Pass the Ball, but only lighter, bouncier, and delightfully unpredictable. Because balloons drift and dance in the air, they rarely go where expected, turning every round into a moment of laughter, surprise, and shared joy. Behind the fun, it gently encourages coordination, quick reflexes, and movement which makes it a wonderful activity for all ages. 🎈

At HBH, residents from the Sale Community, like Evelyn, embrace this cheerful game with smiles and enthusiasm. With the caring guidance of their Lifestyle Coordinator, Ana, every moment is enjoyed safely while keeping the spirit of play alive.

More than just a game, it beautifully brings to life our Eden Principle 5: Enriching daily living with variety and spontaneity, where simple, unexpected moments become meaningful connections worth celebrating. 💚

Easter at Gulf Views was quietly celebrated over a week filled with simple joys, connection, and delightful surprises. From sharing sweet treats to creating even sweeter memories.

Our residents were gifted their Easter goodies, with no hunting required! Bunny ears made their appearance, smiles turned into playful poses, and a lively game of bowling brought out cheerful competition (and a few extra treats along the way). For them, the simple joy of being together was the most treasured moment of all.

More than just a celebration, these shared experiences bring to life our Eden Principle #2: Creating a loving companionship as a powerful antidote to loneliness, because at Gulf Views, every laugh, every conversation, and every moment spent side by side reminds us that no one is ever truly alone. 💚

With hearts full of faith, our residents at Howick Views gathered for a beautiful Easter Church Service, led by our chaplain, Yvonne. A time of reflection, prayer, and togetherness. 💚

Soon after, our staff in the Sale community guided residents in discovering their Easter treats, creating simple moments that brought smiles, joy, and light. ✨

This Good Friday, we remember the greatest act of love. Here at HBH, we are reminded daily of that same love, beautifully reflected in the lives, laughter, and quiet strength of our residents.

Did you know? Balloons have been spreading joy for over a century! First created in the 1800s, they truly found their moment in the early 1900s, quickly becoming the life of every celebration, especially birthdays. More than just decorations, balloons are like a cheerful announcement in the air, quietly declaring, “Today is worth celebrating!” 🎉

At HBH, that spirit came beautifully to life as Nirmal from Minerva community recently marked her 89th birthday. She was warmly surprised by the staff with a thoughtfully decorated cake and a burst of colourful balloons — filling the room, and her heart, with pure happiness. ❤️

Joyful occasions like these gently reflect our Eden Principle 9: Creating an elder-centered community that continues to grow, evolve, and celebrate each individual in meaningful ways.

Because whether you’re turning 9 or 89, there’s something truly magical about balloons — floating, dancing, and bringing a little extra joy into every celebration. ✨🎈
