A big thank you to Invercargill Mayor Tom Campbell for taking time out of his busy schedule to be the guest speaker at our SupportLink Invercargill coffee club this morning. It was great to see such a good turn out to hear him speak, and it was extremely interesting too. He spoke about his journey to becoming mayor, some of his earlier experiences in the role and what is happening in the city at the moment.
Don't forget to come along next month. There is sure to be another interesting speaker. To find out more, phone Rachel on 022 017 5997.

The Southland Sharks have a couple of new avid fans at their games.
In June, a group of care home and village residents attended a Southland Sharks basketball game. Dianna and Maureen from the village had such an amazing time that they wanted to go again. They have since been to every home game. Last night was one of the last home games for this season and afterwards they had the opportunity to meet team members Brayden Inger, Rylan Jones and Keylan Boone players and team manager Daryl Greig and wish them the best for the semi final in Christchurch on Sunday.

Remembrance services have been held across our care homes, Iona dementia unit and central office this week in conjunction with Matariki.
It is a time to reflect and remember residents and staff who have passed away this year.
It was a privilege to have cared for these residents during their time with us.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising these services.

Residents and staff had a wonderful afternoon at the Murihiku marae today. A heartfelt thank you to members of the Waihōpai Rūnaka for their warm hospitality, generosity and making us feel so welcome. Ngā mihi nui.
At the heart of the visit was connection. Bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging are important parts of building strong and caring communities. We look forward to creating more of these valuable community connections.

There were plenty of smiles at Vickery Court yesterday as we welcomed members of the Southland Stags for a special visit. The players generously gave their time to chat with residents, share stories, pose for photos, and brighten everyone's afternoon.
Community connections like these mean so much and create memories that will be treasured for a long time to come.

There's plenty to celebrate at Peacehaven Village! 🏡
Yesterday, Nikki Dermody - Bayleys Southland and Gareth Kennedy - Bayleys Southland joined our Village Manager, Matt Petterson, to place 'Under Offer' signs on four of our six new villas.
With the first stage due for completion later this month, this marks an exciting step forward for our growing village community. We're delighted to see so many people choosing Peacehaven as the place they want to call home.
Interested in learning more about available villas and life at Peacehaven? We'd love to hear from you.

It was lovely to welcome residents and staff from Alden Rose Lodge to our Peacehaven care home today to play a few rounds of boccia. This was the first of what is hoped will be regular social get-togethers between the care homes.

Our team had a great time at Southern Institute of Technology Re-O Week today, meeting students and sharing the many ways they can get involved with Family Works and Enliven Southland.
From rewarding career pathways and casual employment opportunities to meaningful volunteer roles, we loved talking with students about how they can make a difference in the lives of others while gaining valuable experience along the way.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall to have a chat, ask questions, and learn more about the work we do across Southland. We look forward to welcoming some new faces into our team and volunteer network in the future.
