After many hours designing and working alongside local legend Ritchie, our little Beach Road space is finally starting to look a little more like home...

PIKO BU has grown so much over the last year, and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone who has trusted me with their healing journey.

I'm still learning, still growing, and still showing up with the same passion for this mahi every single day.

W H E N 1 N O T E N O U G H 🌸

After receiving a 3-hour mirimiri this week, it really got me thinking about my own practice.

Over the year, there have been times where I've thought, "I wish I had just a little more time with this body." And I've had clients say the very same thing.

Yesterday I offered my first 2-hour session, and it confirmed something I'd been feeling for a while. Some bodies simply need more time. More time to unwind. More time to feel safe. More time for areas that naturally ask for a slower focussed approach.

Not because every body needs two hours... but because some do.

So I've decided to add 2-hour bodywork sessions to my website for those who feel called to them. 💚

A 3-hour mirimiri, acupuncture, and a kawakawa poultice... clearly I don't do things in halves. 😂

But honestly, we often don't realise how much we need to receive until we actually do.

I'm still comming to terms with just how incredible all three practices were and how well they complimented one another. To have no restriction in my neck and shoulders is unheard of for me, yet that's exactly how I feel. Lighter, calmer, and so much freer in my body.

We are so lucky to have so many amazing healers in Kaikōura! 🙌💙

Many people think Mirimiri and Romiromi are "just a massage"—they're not.

✨ Rongoā Māori bodywork views the body, mind, emotions, spirit, and whakapapa as interconnected. When one is out of balance, it can affect the others.

✨ Areas of tension can sometimes reflect long-held stress, grief, or emotional experiences—not just physical strain.

✨ Mirimiri and Romiromi work with the body's natural ability to restore balance rather than forcing change.

✨ Every session is different because every person arrives with a unique story, life experience, and needs.

✨ Healing isn't always about pain disappearing overnight. Sometimes it's sleeping better, breathing deeper, feeling lighter, standing taller, or finding clarity.

✨ Traditional Māori bodywork is about creating space for movement, balance, and reconnection with yourself.

Rongoā Māori isn't simply about treating symptoms—it's about supporting the whole person (te whare tapa whā). 🌿

Squeezed a small group of rangatahi into the PIKO BU space today, to share what I know about Rongoā Māori.

Some big questions were asked, first one had me abit stumped... but so good to see that our rangatahi are learning about different faciets of hauora and health systems they have available to them in our community! Love to know what they all come up with at the end of their studies in our community 🙌🌿

B E A U T I F U L D A Y 💜

Tino pai rā yesterday! 💃

Our rōpū came together to perform at our Matariki Community Hākari, then headed over to tautoko our Kaikoura Healthcare whānau as they farewelled their/our wonderful Practice Manager, Ange.

A big day, a beautiful day, and what about 5 hours of waiata... my lungs definitely know they've had a workout! 🤣🎶

Moments like these remind me that you can't beat living our cultural values through action—showing up, serving, connecting, and supporting one another - even if it is alot of hard mahi 💜

Feeling incredibly grateful. Now time to get out on the moana with the waka ama legends and maybe a nap or two ... 😴
