Day one of the school holidays - what have you got planned?
We are running daily open group sessions in our beautiful sensory room.
10am for under 10-year-olds, and 1:30pm for all ages.
At just $6 per child for the 30-minute session it's the perfect winter activity.

At Te Puna Rau Aroha, staff and people we support have been collecting used foil packaging and giving it a new purpose.

Thanks to Jeff and the volunteers at Te Whare Mahana, these materials are transformed into warm, waterproof blankets for people experiencing hardship and homelessness. they can also be used as picnic blankets, and to keep animals warm.

Today, Jeff brought in one of the finished blankets for our team to see. It was a powerful reminder of how small actions can come together to make a real difference in our community. 💛

School holidays are fast approaching, and we know how hard it can be when routines change.

We are trying something new in our Sensory Room this school holidays for your tamariki.

Daily open group sessions!
Bring your child along for a small group session where they can play, relax, and enjoy the experiences that the sensory room brings. We think you will love it too!

We are trying x2 daily sessions:
10am for under 11 year olds
1:30pm for tweens and teens

And just $6 per child for 30-minutes.

Sensory Room Frequently Asked Questions:

Are bookings private?
Yes! Unless you are booking into a specific class or specific group sessions (more on that coming soon!). Your booking is just for you.

Do I need to book and pay for carers, parents, support staff?
Only the people using the items in the space need to pay.

Who is the Sensory Room suitable for?
Our Sensory Room can be set up to suit all ages and stages from infants to children, adults, seniors, and groups.
This room supports your wellbeing in so many ways, including reducing stress, building cognitive function, connecting to your senses, and increasing resilience. Our team can run guided sessions or you can enjoy the space independently.

Can I purchase a concession card?
Yes! We have these available to purchase in person at Te Puna Rau Aroha.

Is the space accessible?
Yes!
We have a ramp leading into the building, plenty of parking, accessible toilets, and wide entryways.

How do I find Te Puna Rau Aroha?
On Liverpool St, heading towards the mighty Tararua Ranges, continue diring until you have passed the hospital and St John Ambulance Bay. You will see a large MASH Trust sign - turn into this driveway and continue around the bend until you see our bright blue building.

How often should I use the Sensory Room to get the most benefits?
Everyone has different needs, but we find that consistency is the best approach. You might start with once a week, but many people find 2-3 times a week works really well.

Have you booked your session in the Sensory Room, and then had trouble finding us? It seems Google Maps has been directing people to turn down Hinemoa St, however this road does not connect to our site. Keep going towards the Tararua ranges on Liverpool St until you see our blue MASH Trust sign at 102 Liverpool St (just past the new St Johns ambulance bay) and enter the large driveway. From there follow the road until you see our bright blue building (bonus - we have our own carpark you can use!).
The sensory room is a great rainy-day activity and group bookings are available now!

Guided sessions in the Sensory Room
Would you or someone you know benefit from a private guided session in our Sensory Room?
These sessions are focused on exploration, play, and developing fine motor skills.
Sessions run for 30-minutes. During this time caregivers are invited to sit in a comfortable chair either in the room or in a nearby room and relax.
