💙 Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men in New Zealand, but when it's found early, it can often be successfully treated.
Symptoms can include:
✔️ Blood in your bowel motions
✔️ Changes in bowel habits
✔️ Ongoing abdominal discomfort or bloating
✔️ Unexplained weight loss
✔️ Persistent tiredness
While some risk factors can't be changed, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk, including eating a healthy, high-fibre diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol and avoiding smoking.
Bowel cancer often develops slowly and may not cause symptoms in its early stages. That's why screening is so important.
📬 Free bowel screening is available every two years for eligible people aged 60–74 years.
If you have symptoms, a family history of bowel cancer, or questions about your risk, please get in touch. We're here to help.
