Turn around and look at how far you have come.
I came home from the NZ podiatry conference in Wellington recently very conscious of just how much there still is to learn.
Even after more than 25 years as a podiatrist, it’s easy to listen to experts, see what others are doing, and focus on all the things you don’t know or could be doing better.
But it got me thinking about something that probably applies well beyond podiatry.
We spend a lot of time looking ahead.
At where we want to be.
At what other people are doing.
At what we haven’t achieved yet.
Sometimes a more powerful reflection is to turn around and look at how far you have come.
Think about the person you were a year ago. Five years ago. Ten years ago.
What have you learned? What can you do now that once seemed difficult? What have you been through that has shaped who you are today?
When you look at life from that perspective, it can change the way you look forward.
Because if you can see how far you’ve already come, you start to appreciate just how far you might still go.
The sense of possibility that creates is powerful.
p.s- these beautiful people are part of the Podiatry class of 1997! cheers to Nadia for sharing!
