🚑 Who said PJs are only for bedtime?! 😂

Wairarapa Village got a little more relaxed today as our residents AND staff came dressed in their finest onesies and PJs to support Wellington Free Ambulance! 🩷

There were some very questionable fashion choices, plenty of laughs, and a few outfits that definitely looked like they belonged back in bed! 😴😂

After strutting our stuff in our sleepwear, everyone gathered together for a delicious morning tea and a good old cuppa ☕️🍰.
Most importantly, all donations from the day are going to Wellington Free Ambulance, helping support the incredible work they do in our communities. 🚑❤️

A little bit of silliness, a lot of laughter, and a very important cause — we reckon that’s a pretty good way to spend a morning!
Thank you to everyone who got involved and donated. ❤️

⭐️🍽️ Move over Michelin Guide… Wairarapa Village has its very own Michelin Star chef! 🍽️⭐️

Our residents enjoyed another wonderful Monthly Residents’ Dinner today, and our fabulous kitchen team certainly delivered a five-star feast!

The menu was enough to make anyone’s mouth water — succulent roast pork, crispy roast potatoes, kumara and pumpkin, cauliflower and broccoli cheese, all generously finished with gravy. And for dessert… rhubarb and apple strudel with custard and cream! 😋

There was plenty of delicious food, friendly conversation, laughter and, of course, that wonderful community spirit that makes our residents’ dinners so special.

Our residents presented Lisa with her very own Michelin Star Award in recognition of all the beautiful meals she and her kitchen team prepare for us.

We’re not entirely sure if the real Michelin Guide knows about Wairarapa Village yet… but frankly, we think they’re missing out! 😂⭐️

A huge thank you to Lisa and the incredible kitchen team for keeping our residents so well fed, happy and very spoilt!

Five stars for the food, five stars for the company and definitely five stars for our kitchen team ❤️🍴

☕🍦 Coffee Club… with a side of mischief! 😋

Our Wairarapa Village residents headed out to Urban Eats today for a very important mission… coffee, yummy food and, naturally, an ice cream to finish! 🍦

With full bellies and absolutely no regrets, we decided a little walk around the streets of Masterton was in order to work off the evidence! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

We also stopped by the library to check out the fantastic new artwork created by local Masterton school children. 🎨 What a wonderful splash of colour and creativity for everyone to enjoy.

Exercise afterwards to make ourselves feel better about it ✔️

Another fabulous Coffee Club outing — and we’re already looking forward to the next excuse to head out! ❤️

✍️ Putting Pen to Paper at Wairarapa Village 📚

There’s a new group getting creative at Wairarapa Village!
Our residents have recently started a Writing Group, meeting fortnightly to share their latest pieces, ideas and stories.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to chat about books they’ve been reading, exchange recommendations and enjoy plenty of lively discussion along the way.
Whether they’re writing memories, stories, poetry or simply putting thoughts onto paper, it’s fantastic to see our residents sharing their creativity and inspiring one another. 📝❤️

Who knows… we might have a few budding authors right here at Wairarapa Village! 📖

A Lovely Day Out! 🌿🍽️

Our Wairarapa Village residents enjoyed a wonderful day out today, with a lovely long lunch at the Gladstone Inn!

We took the scenic route there, touring through the beautiful Wairarapa countryside and enjoying plenty of good conversation and laughs along the way.

After a delicious lunch and some great company, it was time to hop back in the van for a little “ticky touring” on the way home! 🚐
We cruised through some of the new subdivisions, checking out all the changes and seeing what’s new around the area.

There’s nothing quite like a good village outing — beautiful scenery, good food, plenty of chatter and a few laughs along the way! ❤️

🔐 Staying One Step Ahead of Scammers!

A big thank you to Westpac for joining us today to give our residents at Wairarapa Village an informative and important talk about banking scams and fraud.

Scammers are becoming increasingly clever and convincing, so it’s more important than ever to know what to look out for and how to protect yourself.

A few simple reminders:
• Never give out your banking details, passwords or PINs over the phone.
• If something doesn’t feel right, hang up — even if the caller sounds genuine.
• Don’t be pressured into making a quick decision.
• If in doubt, contact your bank directly using the official 0800 number on your bank card or statement.

Thank you to the Westpac team for helping our residents feel more confident and informed about staying safe from scams. Knowledge is one of our best defences! 💙

🧁🔥 THE MUFFIN BATTLE IS ON! 🔥🧁

There was plenty of excitement (and some serious muffin tasting!) at Wairarapa Village this morning as we went head-to-head in our Best Muffin Competition! 😋

Our fabulous guest judges, Janet from Masterton District Library and Stacey from Awhi Mai Day Care, had the VERY important job of sampling the delicious entries and deciding who would take home the title. With some tempting muffins on the table, it was another hard-fought battle! 👩‍🍳🏆

🥁 And the winner is… VERONICA! 🎉
Her delicious apple and ginger muffins stole the show and took out first place! 🍎🫚🧁

After getting the heart rate up with Josh from Excuse Free Supplements’ exercise class, everyone was more than ready to reward themselves with a muffin (or two 😉)

A huge well done to everyone who baked and joined in — and a big thank you to our wonderful judges for taking on such a tough job!

Now the big question… what will our taste buds be battling over next month? 👀🍰

🌍❄️ From Antarctica to the Russian Arctic! ❄️🌍

What a fabulous and fascinating talk we enjoyed last week from Megan Balks.

Megan took us on an incredible journey to some of the most remote and extreme places on Earth, sharing stories from her travels to Antarctica and the Russian Arctic, where she studied soil and permafrost.

From surviving freezing temperatures and swarms of mosquitoes 🦟🥶 to camping in remote locations and travelling by all kinds of unusual vehicles and transport, Megan had plenty of incredible stories to tell! Her stunning photography brought each adventure to life and gave us a wonderful glimpse into these extraordinary parts of the world.

And just when we thought we’d travelled far enough, we finished with a fascinating discussion about the meteorite search currently happening right here in our own backyard! ☄️

A huge thank you to Megan for sharing her adventures, knowledge and amazing photographs with us. What an afternoon of discovery, adventure and inspiration! 🌏✨
