I recently had the privilege of attending a 3-day event in Wellington — a 2-day course followed by a remarkable third day laying the foundations for a world-first Bowen research project. (More on that soon — watch this space! 🌏)

Our instructor, Ali Goward, is one of those rare people who doesn't just teach — she illuminates. As a highly respected researcher and the developer of animal Bowen, Ali broke down this incredible modality with such clarity and depth that it left us all buzzing. She didn't just enthuse us — she challenged us to become researchers ourselves.

Here's what continues to move me about Bowen:

𝙄 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮!

The card said: "Thinking of you." and it was from my children.
I burst into tears.

🌹 15 years ago we lost our rock — my adored husband, their special dad. Since then, it's been a journey of figuring out who I really am. Pushing through resistance that still shows up.

🌹 There've been a lot of tears! In the early days, it was wine, and loud music, then let it out with an ugly cry session!
I became an expert at hiding how I felt — bright smile on the outside, falling apart on the inside. A survival skill I learned as a kid.
I'm authentic. I care deeply about people. But letting them all the way in? That's always been hard for me.

🌹 We have to keep finding ways to work through what we've locked away. There's more than one way to slice a carrot — and more than one way to face old hurt.
For me: supportive friends and workmates.
Singing lessons that cracked me wide open.
Auditioning for local shows, terrified every time, but growing more than I imagined.
Empowerment coaches.
Meditation. Journaling. Faith.

I had such a beautiful Bowen session with my client this morning. The sun was streaming into my room, the birdsong was magical, and the water feature was peacefully trickling away in the background.

The best part? My client allowed herself to drift off to cloud nine, while her body did exactly what it needed to do. RELAX, and allow the shifts to happen!

I love the magic that happens when our bodies are given the permission and freedom to do what they do best. ✨

🦋 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 — 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙤𝙤 🦋

This season gifted me a bumper crop of swan plants — and with them, an extraordinary front-row seat to one of life's greatest secrets.

Wave after wave of Monarch caterpillars arrived, wove their jade-green chrysalises, and — after quietly doing the most profound work of their lives — burst into the air as something altogether breathtaking.

Think about what that tiny caterpillar agrees to.

It enters a chamber of complete dissolution — no map, no guarantee, no escape hatch. It surrenders every familiar shape it has ever known. It sits inside the discomfort, the darkness, the not-yet. And it does not give up.

Because somewhere beneath the confusion, it knows — a more magnificent version of itself is assembling in the dark.

What if your restlessness isn't a problem to fix —
but a chrysalis you're already inside?

What if the walls you feel pressing in around you aren't trapping you — they're forming you?

The caterpillar doesn't fight the cocoon. It trusts the process long enough to become the butterfly.
