My late 30s have been all about calming my nervous system which changed how I look at my health. These are my top tips for staying healthy inside and out.
Do exercise that is calming. Running, HIIT training, boxing, anything that spikes my heart rate, are all things I avoid. Our body doesn’t know the difference between a spike in heart rate from exercise vs anxiety. Weight training, pilates and low intensity cardio are my focus as I get older.
Say yes less. I was a chronic people please which lead to autoimmune disease. Saying no keeps me healthy.
Decentre patriarchal views. Hair style? Choose it because I like it, not because it’s in fashion. My style? For the girlies not the men.
Eat to make me happy. While I still have fitness goals, I choose food options I enjoy over the best option for my health. I get a lot of food anxiety because I already struggle with food, food textures & eating enough, I do not need to worry about what kind of food to eat because it’s deemed healthy.
Keep my circle small. I’ve had people (mostly women unfortunately) in my life that did not have the best intentions for me, keeping my friendship circle small means I have quality friendships.
don’t listen to advice I didn’t ask for. Unsolicited advice at this time of my life is simply something I do not need.
