Te Ika Whenua Hauora have been working alongside Te Runanga o Ngati Manawa and KVCC to create a Kaingaroa Communty Maara Kai Garden.
On the 30 July we had a Introduction & Planning hui which was very informal with a number of whakaaro expressed especially in terms of what Kaingaroa whanau see the importance of having a Maara Kai Garden. Today we got stuck in building planter boxes, cutting drums, erecting greenhouse, building a tool wall to hang tools and shelving in the container. Next week we have some jobs still to finish off. We will start filling in the the boxes with cardboard, dry branches, wood chips, straw and hopefully we have our compost & potting mix. If you are not busy next week date & time will be sent out. Whanau more hands ✋️ are welcome. Let's keep going and get Kaingaroa Whanau their Maara Kai Garden.

to our local and surrounding communities we need your help if you have toilet tubes like in the picture can you save them and drop off at 53 Oregon Drive, Murupara. We need these to grow our vegetables in. The more we can get the better
So don't throw them in the rubbish these are great resources that can be used.
We are trying to get as much before the end of August.

We will leave a box at the front door steps of the building.
