Could you have measles⁉️

Measles is highly infectious. This year in Aotearoa New Zealand we have already had cases of measles. The MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is now free for adults as of 1 October 2025! After one dose of the vaccine, around 95% of people are fully protected, and after 2 doses, 99% of people are fully protected.

As you may have heard, there has been several reported cases of Measles across the motu.

Thank you to the team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora for providing this helpful information on what symptoms to look out for and what action to take if you are worried that you or your whānau may have symptoms of measles.

With measles cases confirmed in Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s important we all stay alert. Symptoms include: high fever, cough, runny nose, sore red eyes, and followed by a rash.

You might have heard about the 24-hour NZNO nurses’ strike happening from 9am this today (30 July) to 9am tomorrow (31 July). Letting you know our lovely nurses are NOT impacted by this strike, so it's business as usual for us.

However, we'd like to let you know that the overnight nurse-provided service (8pm–8am) at Napier Health will be closed tonight (the night of Wednesday 30 July).
