Why Blood Tests Matter

Blood tests help us make sure your hormone treatment is working safely and effectively.

They allow us to:
✔ Monitor hormone levels
✔ Check your general health
✔ Make changes if needed

Regular blood tests are an important part of safe gender-affirming care.

🏳️‍🌈 What Do the Colours Mean?

The Progress Pride Flag celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community and reminds us that everyone belongs.

❤️ Rainbow stripes – Represent the LGBTQIA+ community and the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities.
🩵 Pink, light blue and white – Represent the transgender community.
🤎 Brown and black – Represent LGBTQIA+ people of colour, honour those we've lost to HIV/AIDS, and acknowledge the ongoing fight against racism and stigma.
💛 Yellow with the purple circle – Represents the intersex community and the right to bodily autonomy.

The Progress Pride Flag is a symbol of inclusion, visibility and equality. It reminds us that every person's journey is unique and that everyone deserves to be respected, valued and supported.

❤️ Every colour has meaning. Every person belongs.

Gender Care 101 | Episode 1
What is Gender-Affirming Care?

Gender-affirming care is healthcare that supports people to live as their authentic selves.

This might include education, hormone therapy, blood tests, referrals, or simply having someone to talk to about your options.

Everyone's journey is different, and your care should reflect your individual goals.

❤️ Care that's centred around you.

Using someone's correct pronouns is a simple way to show respect and help create a safe, inclusive environment.

Pronouns are the words we use when referring to someone, such as:
• She/Her
• He/Him
• They/Them

If you're unsure what pronouns someone uses, it's okay to politely ask or introduce your own pronouns first.

Everyone makes mistakes from time to time. If you use the wrong pronoun, simply apologise, correct yourself, and move on.

Small actions can make a big difference in helping people feel seen, respected, and valued.

❤️ Respect starts with listening.

Today, on **14 July**, we celebrate **International Non-Binary People's Day** and recognise the diversity, strength, and experiences of non-binary people here in Aotearoa and around the world.

Being non-binary means that a person's gender isn't exclusively male or female.

Today, we celebrate authenticity, visibility, and the freedom to be yourself.

💛🤍💜🖤 Happy International Non-Binary People's Day!

🏳️‍⚧️ Not Seeing the Results You Hoped For? We Can Help. 🏳️‍⚧️

We understand that accessing gender-affirming healthcare can sometimes be difficult, and some people may turn to DIY hormones or medications without regular medical support.

If you're currently taking hormones and aren't seeing the changes you expected, have concerns about side effects, or simply want to make sure your treatment is safe and effective, our team is here to help.

At the Gender Care Clinic, we can:

✔️ Review your current medications
✔️ Arrange blood tests and monitoring
✔️ Check your hormone levels
✔️ Discuss your goals and expectations
✔️ Help ensure your treatment is as safe as possible

There is no judgement. Our priority is supporting your health and wellbeing.

Whether you're just starting your journey, self-managing treatment, or looking for ongoing care, we're here to provide professional, evidence-based support.

Because everyone deserves access to safe, affirming healthcare.

❤️ Care. Respect. Inclusion.
