Inexpensive motivational tools I ❤️ using in my speech therapy sessions.

1. Magnetic counters and wand. Probably my most used tool in my clinic. Bright, colourful, fun!

2. Popper toys. I prefer this long numbered one. Change the word every 5 pops.

3. Ice cube tray. Fill a row (or 3) with anything small- think rubbers, minis, counters....

4. Mini rubbish bin. This came from a friend (can one buy these still??). Very appealing to kids. Push the pedal and the lid lifts. A good one for minimal pair work.

5. Abacus. I adhere 4 pictures on the left and the child picks a row. Every time they say the word, they push a bead across. Easy. A fast way to get lots of trials.

I ticked Oprah off my bucket list✔️🖊😍

As a teenager I would watch the Oprah show in the school holidays and I have long admired her mahi. Seeing her in the flesh was like a dream come true!

For me, the stand out part was when she discussed the allignment of the PERSONALITY and the SOUL as the key to living an authentic life and finding true purpose. This resonated with me with regards to the work we do as 'speechies' and how much we put our heart and soul into what we do. We give it our all!

The work can be demanding but the rewards are immense. ❤️💙💚

Recently Sharon Scur (DEB) was selling some of her resources and I couldn't resist this wee collection. 📚 I've dipped into the UFLI (which has been on my radar for some time) but the 'Horrible Histories' books and mags have been most useful as I have some history loving students on my caseload. 🏰

Loving the library! 📚💙🥰
If you are in the Nelson region, it is free to reserve kid's books!

I often get inspired by books I see online, from clients and in manuals (think vocab, inferencing, narrative, speech sounds, graphic novels, non fiction...).

Having the library near work is the best and sometimes allows me to 'try before I buy'.
