IT'S COMING!!!
The I.Lead Conference is a platform for disabled youth (18 – 30 years old) from across Aotearoa. This enables rangatahi whaikaha to come together to find solutions to prevalent issues and barriers they face as disabled youth living in New Zealand. It is also a space of collaboration and innovation, being a platform from which we can identify solutions and present them to high level policy and decision makers. We're thrilled by the recent launch of Te reo Māori Turi, a set of video resources that express te reo Māori visually developed by Turi Māori (Deaf Māori) leaders. It's been an honour to walk alongside them over the past 10 months of bringing this language to life.

The three waiata (Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi, Tōku Reo, Tōku Ohooho), and Karakia Rūaumoko were performed on stage at Ngā Puna o Waiōrea to a large audience from across the motu. "I'm incredibly proud to see so many people here tonight celebrating the work that has gone into this journey," says Tanesha, one of the Turi leaders, rightfully so! "We've had rangatahi, whānau, and friends come together. This is the moment for the kaupapa to be launched and taken out into the world."

Thank you to Te Mātāwai for funding this mahi. With these resources, whānau Turi can take their full place within Māori culture.
