Reset Retreat

Reset Retreat In a world so connected, it seems ironic that we are losing connection with ourselves, nature, and others. Nga Mihi.

Reset from the rush of everyday life in your own private 25-acres of native forest, listening to the Kiwi calls at night, and riding the Twin Coast Cycle Trail during the day. At Reset Retreat, our mission is to be a sanctuary in which our guests can reconnect with themselves, the natural world, and those closest to them. Located just outside of Okaihau, Reset Retreat sits right on the Twin Coast

Cycle Trail between Paihia and the Hokianga Harbour. Our first accommodation sites will be opening in Summer 2021 and guests will have private access to tailored yoga classes, therapeutic massage from tertiary qualified professionals, fresh, organic meals, meditation classes, stretch and exercise classes, and 25-acres of native forest trails with dozens of resident kiwis, glow-worms (titiwai), and other gorgeous native birds. Our aim is to expand the scope of sustainability so that our guests shift their focus from a global perspective of sustainability to a more manageable, daily focus on sustainable practices for their own minds and bodies. Because, the truth is, our inner world and the outer world are intimately and intrinsically connected. When we focus on sustainable practices for our own health and wellbeing, we gradually and ultimately make better decisions for the planet (without the heavy responsibility of needing to save the world!). Like our Page to keep up to date with Reset Retreat's developments and to be first in line when our doors open for Summer 2021!

Holy smokes! The last three guests have all seen kiwis during night walks in our forest. Our guests from Germany even managed to capture their interaction on camera. After four years of pest control and conservation, we are stoked that the forest is so alive that our guests can easily have these experiences too 🤙🤙

Resident Rurus. These nocturnal burrowing owls, affectionately known as Moreporks because of their call (that sounds like 'more pork!), come to visit our house each night and we often sit out and chat for awhile.

We are stoked to be getting ready for the launch of our first guest house at Reset Retreat! Situated right on the Twin Coast Cycle Trail, we will soon be welcoming guests to kick back and enjoy our 50 acres of private forest trails, rivers, freshwater springs, Kiwis calling outside your room and glow worms lighting up the trails. To those with aches and pains from the cycle, we will also be offering massage from tertiary qualified professionals and yoga classes. Watch this space!

The banana blossom. Beautiful to look at, better to eat! It has a meat-like texture, used in traditional southeast Asian cuisine. An easy and tasty substitute for fish or chicken if you’re thinking of going plant based, or just cutting back.

The preparation is a little time consuming if you get it direct from the banana plant, so we use canned banana blossom for our dinner creations at the moment. When we’ve got blossoms coming out our ears though, we’ll definitely practice the art of prep.
