🦋MOTHERING DAY LOVE & MUSING🦋*no AI was used in the creation of this post & art is by me. So excuse me for bad grammar and spelling, I’m an ND woman who scraped through school in the 80s & 90s barely making it out alive 🤣🙌🏻

💚I would change this quote to read ‘deciding to LOVE a child is momentous’ why? Well ‘mothers’ appear in many forms and not all mothers ‘birthed’ a child.

🦋So I’d like to take a moment to honour all of the women in the world who truly mother others in the purest sense of the word. Who hold space for, support, nurture & care for others. Who keep others safe, respect them as individuals & in some cases teach them how to reparent themselves. I see you, thank you our world needs you 🙏🏻

💚 To the mothers of neurodivergent children, children with high sensitivities, disabilities, anxieties and other conditions that require extreme amounts of energy to navigate and moments of deep heartache and epic joy, I see you, I am you, thank you for all you do. 🙏🏻

🦋 Teachers, social workers, foster parents, therapists, nurses, youth group leaders, and all the other roles where the mother archetype shows up - I see you, thank you - we need you 🙏🏻

💚Allot of adults walk through this world with wounded children inside. Parts of themselves that for one reason or another felt unseen or unloved. Some carrying trauma of varying degrees. When we are kind to one another, when we release judgment, hold space for friendships and support others where we can, we are in that moment mothering. I feel deeply that the world right now needs the matriarch 💚

🦋For myself, this quote I found after the birth of my eldest daughter 20 years ago, my heart does beat outside my chest - I was graced with 4 children, I’ll only graduate from the university of motherhood when I leave this earth plane! In my work outside of mothering I often feel that I’m still ‘mothering’ it’s a deep calling to want to be of service - especially for other women. It is a privilege to do any of these things. 💚🦋🥰

🦋Warmly with love, Melissa J

Midweek Musings

There’s a pattern I’ve been noticing lately—a quiet undercurrent of turbulence weaving through everyday life.

For some, it’s subtle. For others, it brings a steady weight of stress, shaping choices for themselves and their families. Rising costs, uncertainty… it all ripples outward.

And sometimes, the turbulence arrives in more personal, unexpected ways—touching health, relationships, and our sense of security. Not because of the world, but simply because life is life.

So what can we do when it doesn’t seem to ease?

We can be swept up in the chaos… or we can become the eye of the storm.

We can look to our communities and ask, what can I offer?
What we no longer need may be exactly what someone else is quietly hoping for.

Instead of being consumed by worry, we can choose kindness.
We can check in with each other.
We can be honest about how we feel—scared, uncertain, overwhelmed—and still find moments of peace within it.

We may not be able to change the world, but we can soften it in small, meaningful ways.

And each morning, we can choose—
to show up,
to be authentic,
to notice the small, beautiful things still here.

🍂Happy Autumnal Equinox 🍂 & Blessed Spring Equinox to those in the Northern Hemisphere 🌸
💛 This week in our Women’s Restorative classes we used stillness to feel into this seasonal shift. A moments reflection & gratitude for the preceding months since mid Dec & the Summer Solstice. What had we learned, achieved or felt truly grateful for? What were we harvesting? Regardless of whether those individual journeys were fraught with challenge there is still wisdom & gratitude to be found in everything.

🍂I have personally paid attention to these moments in time for many years. In the busyness of life I’ve found small ways to mark these quarters of the wheel of life. For me personally this is where Autumn truly begins here in NZ.
💛 The astrological NY also begins around this date, although it’s energies align with the Northern Hemisphere given that Aries is the initiating energy of the zodiac, it’s first breath. For the Southern Hemisphere it’s a very different energy to work with. We can still ‘initiate’ plans but perhaps also in keeping with this slowing down, taking time & storing energy for the darker cooler days to come.
🍂The Autumnal Equinox was also when I birthed my 2nd daughter, it marks her Solar return, this year her 18th. I can recall the magnificence of her birth so clearly in my cells. Labouring at home through the dark early morning hours, completely in tune with her & my body. At first light she took her first breath at 0deg of Aries. So she initiated for us the continuing celebration of this equal day & night, by birthing through and into it so we should never forget.
✨So today I prepare a feast for my girl & we celebrate all that this delicious life offers.
🍂May you pause, reflect and find a small way to notice this moment in time 🙌🏻 Warmly, Melissa J xx

🦋Self Care - If you’re into Astrology & want a tip in your Emotional Self Care point then look to your Moon placement. Mines in Aquarius.
✨I’ve learnt that I need ‘space’ to recharge from the mother load I carry. Not even addressing the other mental loads of creating a wellness business where I help others through physical movement and stillness.
🦋A ritual organically created itself during the Summer school holidays where I’d take my coffee to my bedroom, after sorting my kids out, then I’d sit and read, I love learning and dipping my toe into all kinds of information, I’d draw, maybe journal. Check my astrology transits for loose fluid guidance. Having this as the foundation of my day was so nourishing. I didn’t even realise that it was so Aquarius in nature! That’s the amusing thing about astrology, it happens or plays out regardless!
✨There are many other moving parts to astrology like aspects to my moon, the house it’s in, current transits and so forth but in it’s simplicity just understanding the archetypes of the signs can be helpful when we are feeling into what nourishes us.
💚In true Aquarius style I also inevitability end up sharing what I learn because Aquarius is always seeking to be of service and innovate!
✨Sharing because this morning I had the luxury of this ritual again and I felt into how deeply it supports me. Especially as I’ve felt a little stretched in my motherhood journey lately. Self care is a deeply personal experience which is unique to you.
