Happy International Paramedics Day! 💚
Today we're celebrating the important role our Extended Care Paramedics play at Ōtaki Medical Centre and recognising the difference they make for our patients every day.
This winter, we're pleased to welcome Dr Hannah Latta to the team. As our new Extended Care Paramedic, Hannah is helping support the increased demand over the winter months.
Working alongside Hannah is Dr Celeita Williams, whose leadership as an Extended Care Paramedic, researcher and educator continues to help shape the role of paramedics in primary care.
Hannah and Celeita are both passionate about improving access to healthcare and ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Both Hannah and Celeita completed their Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degrees at AUT University. They use the title Dr in recognition of their doctoral qualifications, although they are not medical doctors.
They bring the knowledge, critical thinking and passion developed through their research into everyday clinical practice, using evidence to continually improve the care they provide for our patients and community.
Together, Hannah and Celeita are helping us provide more accessible, patient-centred care and demonstrating the valuable contribution Extended Care Paramedics make in general practice.
Thank you to Hannah, Celeita, and to all paramedics for the skill, compassion and commitment you bring to caring for our communities.
Happy International Paramedics Day!
