💛 Safe Sleep Week NZ 💛
Every sleep. Every nap. Every night.
Safe sleep practices help reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) and give babies the safest possible start in life.
This Safe Sleep Week, we’re encouraging whānau to remember the key safe sleep messages:
✨ Always place baby on their back to sleep
✨ Use a firm, flat, clear sleep surface
✨ Keep baby’s face uncovered
✨ Share a room, not a bed, for at least the first 6 months
✨ Keep baby smoke-free before and after birth
✨ Ensure baby has their own safe sleep space
Small steps make a big difference. By creating a safe sleep environment every time your baby sleeps, you’re helping protect what matters most.
If you have questions about safe sleep, please reach out to your midwife or healthcare provider.
