THINK Hauora

THINK Hauora THINK Hauora is the Primary Health Organisation (PHO) for the MidCentral district. What is primary care?

Well it's usually the first port of call when you or someone in your whānau needs health care or advice. The people you might see in primary care include (but are definitely not limited to) general practitioners (GPs), nurse practitioners, pharmacists, dietitians and long term conditions nurses. THINK Hauora exists to ensure that everyone living in our MidCentral communities have access to primary care, whenever they need it.

We're a little late in joining the celebrations, but we wanted to take a moment to recognise Tongan Language Week and celebrate the rich culture, language and contributions of Tongan communities across Aotearoa.

Language is more than words. It carries identity, history, values and connection. It helps strengthen a sense of belonging and plays an important role in wellbeing for individuals, whānau and communities.

At THINK Hauora, we're proud to serve diverse communities across our rohe and acknowledge the important role culture and language play in helping people feel seen, heard and valued.

Mālō 'aupito to the Tongan communities, leaders, families and organisations who enrich our region and help build stronger, healthier communities every day.

🍎Small steps can lead to big changes.

Our Move to Improve programme supports people living with long-term conditions to improve physical function, build confidence, and enhance wellbeing in a supportive community environment. Along the way, participants learn new skills, connect with others, and gain tools to help manage their own health and wellbeing.

Every journey starts somewhere. Today is a great day to take that first step.

Ask your GP, healthcare provider, or referrer about Move to Improve and whether you may be eligible for the programme.

After more than 12 years welcoming visitors, supporting staff and keeping the front desk running smoothly, Linda Walton has retired.

For many of us, Linda was the very first person we met when we walked through the doors of THINK Hauora, whether for an interview, a meeting, or our first day of work. Her warmth, kindness, professionalism and trademark no-fuss attitude have helped create the welcoming environment that so many people associate with our organisation.

As the first face people see when they enter our whare, Linda has left a lasting impression on countless staff, partners and visitors over the years. She has been a constant presence, a friendly smile, and a valued member of our work whānau.

While we are sad to see her go, we are incredibly excited for her as she begins this well-deserved next chapter.

Thank you, Linda, for your years of dedication, care and service. We wish you all the very best for a happy, relaxing and fulfilling retirement. Enjoy every moment. 🌺

Ngā mihi nui, Linda. You will be greatly missed. 💐
