This June, here at Franklin Hospital we proudly stand in support Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

New Zealand has one of the highest rates of bowel cancer in the world. When found early, more than 90% of bowel cancer cases are curable. The signs aren’t always obvious. Symptoms can be easy to miss, ignore or explain away. That’s why knowing what to look for, and acting early, can make all the difference!

Our Theatre Team Leader , Steve Bryant recently had the privilege of being invited by Stryker to join a guest panel discussing our experience at Franklin Hospital using the Neptune 3 system in Theatre.

The discussion focused on key areas shaping the future of healthcare: sustainability, cost efficiency, waste reduction, and health & safety. It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights and also hear from managers across the country.

What stood out was the strong interest in how we operate at Franklin Hospital. Our consistent on-time theatre starts and sub-15-minute turnaround times were highlighted as benchmarks of efficiency—something our entire team works hard to achieve every day.

There was also a lot of curiosity about our team culture. We’ve maintained a remarkably stable core group for over five years while continuing to grow, and that continuity has clearly played a major role in our success.
