🌿 A Little Update from Amor Aromatherapy 🌿

Unfortunately, my current website is experiencing some technical issues and is not behaving as it should. While I work through rebuilding the site from the ground up, some products, ordering functions and pages may not display correctly.

💚 If you'd like to place an order, please email me directly and I'll process it manually for you.

In the meantime, you can also browse my new temporary website, which is currently under construction but being updated regularly:

👉 Visit the New Amor Aromatherapy Shop https://amor-aromatherapy-shop.replit.app/

Please bear with me while I rebuild everything. With thousands of products, recipes, ebooks, cosmetic kits, aromatherapy supplies and training resources to migrate, it's a much bigger job than it first appeared!

Thank you for your patience, support and understanding. Every order, enquiry and kind word means the world to this small New Zealand business. ❤️

I have hundreds of product photos I've taken over the years and done bu**er all with so .... With a little bit of help from AI, I've strung some photos together for my lipgloss kit. https://youtu.be/eqrmEgthaG8

What do you think, should I keep going with my other product photos... ?
Should I do voice overs... ?

Okay so I've been slack not being on here, however in the background I have been trying to repair my broken old website without success, and am currently building a new one in my evenings. It's a long slow process as I create new copy and images.

However, if there is anything you want to buy, just email me and I'll send you a proforma invoice.

Here's an example of what I've been doing... 😊

I created this balm as we were going through a ridiculous amount of Weleda Hypercal Cream between my Dermatitis Herpetiformis, the animals on our lifestyle block and my son with scrapes and grazes, along with my clients coming in who had some pretty manky bites and scrapes too - the joys of living i...

Well... today's mission was supposed to be finding a pesky login issue on the Amor Aromatherapy website. 😅

Several hours, two laptops, multiple screens, phpMyAdmin, SSL certificates, and a substantial amount of decaf tea later, I discovered something rather unexpected...

The issue may not actually be the login system at all.

AmorAromatherapy.co.nz and AmorAromatherapy.com were deliberately built as two separate websites, with separate Zen Cart installations and separate hosting environments. Tonight I discovered that what should have been two completely different systems now appear to be showing the same files and configurations.

Which means there's a very good chance I've been investigating the wrong website installation while trying to track down the source of the login problem. 🤦‍♀️

The good news is that I think we've finally found a major clue as to why this issue has been so difficult to resolve.

I've contacted MyHost and asked them to investigate the hosting configuration, domain mappings, and SSL setup so we can get to the bottom of what's really happening behind the scenes.

Thank you for your patience while I sort this out. Running a small business sometimes means being the receptionist, formulator, teacher, website developer, technical support department, and detective all on the same day. 😂

Watch this space. The mystery of the missing login may finally be getting solved!

Feeling sad after reading about the avalanche in Pakistan this morning... I lost my step-dad whom I'm named after in an avalanche here in NZ 51 years ago.

On July 23, 1975, a massive deep slab avalanche struck the head of Ball Pass on Aoraki / Mount Cook, burying 27 Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) personnel and instructors during a winter survival training exercise. The tragedy resulted in four deaths and fundamentally transformed New Zealand's approach to mountain safety, search and rescue, and hazard advisory systems.

Institutional and Safety ImpactAvalanche Education:
The high-profile accident acted as a major catalyst, triggering a thorough re-examination of risk management for alpine groups in New Zealand.

Advisory Services:
It directly accelerated the development and formal structuring of New Zealand's organized snow and avalanche hazard advisory and information networks.

Legacy Support:
Memorial funds established by grieving families, such as the Gazley Fund, supplied vital search, rescue, and medical equipment maintained at Mount Cook for decades.

Last year I flew over the Ball Pass with my childhood friend who also lost her father... It was very emotional for both of us... And I know she will be sharing similar feelings today, especially with our dads' anniversary only a week ago.

So what essential oils can help with this? My go to is is an equal blend of Bergamot, Neroli and Petitgrain... The fruit, flowers, leaves and twigs of the same plant.

Oh boy, I'm sooooo behind with the times - I've been in business since 1998 and only have 1 google review 🥹

So if you've ever bought from me, seen me as a practitioner, attended one of my courses, etc, over the last 28 years, could you please do a review.

Ironically, I turned 60 this month, so let's see if I can catch up in this age of technology!

And as an incentive, if you do leave me a review, I will personally send you a 6% off gift voucher. Please note, you do need to be an existing customer - I don't want fake reviews by people who I've never interacted with.

Thank you 🌹

Time for a catch up... In the last 6 weeks I've moved house, Amor isn't fully unpacked and organized yet, however the house nearly is, had my elderly dad over and had a party!

There's no dedicated clinic space, although there is lots of spaces for a face to face consultation. Due to my osteoporosis, I'm being gentle with myself whilst still maintaining an active lifestyle of lifting and carrying boxes up and down stairs. Our office is downstairs, our living upstairs and I've made it a rule to only use the bathroom in our en suite so I have to do more steps when I need to go.

I turned 60 this week, a huge milestone considering I nearly died as a babe and was plagued with respiratory infections most of my childhood... And that's not counting the anaphylaxis near misses 🤣

I did a speakeasy theme The Velvet Teacup which was fun, and I dressed Edwardian style complete with a bustle! However my cake had to be a dragon who loves flowers, pearls and crystals! Even the cake she's sitting on is Rose flavoured!

And all that food is free from dairy, gluten, nightshades, crustaceans and shellfish, pork and pineapple, and included vegetarian options for my vege friends. 😁
I even created cashew cream cheese for the blinis!
And I got my first ever Lego set 💙💜💚

How's your weeks been, what's new, and what should I unpack first for Amor as I have created a zone?

Well... It's been a busy 3 weeks with packing up and moving home and business!
We're now based at 34 Lonely Track Road, Redvale on Auckland's North Shore!

I have sold 3 of my display units that I bought for the shop I had in Maungaturoto in 2007, and which have been bookcases in my clinic in their last reincarnation. Now they have become bookcases in children's rooms which is lovely. 💚

Last night I set up my little Aromatherapy display unit and found the connection for the lights tonight (although the top one isn't working so looks like I'm going to have to dismantle everything and start again!) This weekend I will be sorting out my new storage area, including shelf labels so I can find everything!
Along with my Bookcases and Craft Room, and Guest Room! Going to be a busy lady! 😊

The spanner in the works this week was Hubby falling down the stairs in the middle of the night in the dark... He's a bit concussed which is not surprising considering the size of the whole in the wall! We're lucky he fell the way he did or things could be very different... 😢

Tools and Basics : Foundations of making 🧰

Every maker starts somewhere, and often it is with the simplest tools. A pipette. A bottle. A basic piece of equipment that quietly does its job.

As part of our END OF FINANCIAL YEAR sale, I am clearing a range of core making tools and packaging that have supported so many creative projects over the years. Transfer pipettes, PET and glass bottles, caps and simple soap accessories are all being reduced while stocks last.

These are the unglamorous but essential pieces that make learning and experimenting easier.

Moving forward, I want to spend more time teaching how and why we use these tools, not just selling them. That is where workshops come in, whether in person here on the Hibiscus Coast or online with kits sent to you.

If you are newer to making, what tool did you find the most confusing when you first started?

The moment you realise it’s time to change

There comes a quiet moment in business where you realise you are no longer excited by the same things that once lit you up.

For me, that moment came while packing orders. I noticed that the part I loved most was not the selling or the shipping, but the conversations. The questions. The explaining why one ingredient works and another does not.

Amor has always been about more than products. It has been about understanding plants, chemistry, safety and intention. And now it feels like time to let that lead.

To make space for workshops and education, I am running an End Of Financial Year stock reduction across a wide range of tools, ingredients and supplies, which you'll find here https://amoraromatherapy.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=100

This is about clearing shelves so I can open space for teaching.

Have you ever had a moment where you realised the next step was not more, but different?
