Last night we had the privilege of hosting a Cardiac Workshop from the Heart Foundation alongside our PHO, Pinnacle! ❤️

Our team dove right in and participated because, the learning never stops for health professionals!

While ongoing education is required to maintain our registrations, the real reason we do it is to stay up to date with the latest changes and best practice. It’s all about ensuring we deliver the highest quality care possible to our whānau.

Nga mihi to all the practice teams across Rotorua who came along and made it a great night! 👏✨

Tau Oranga are helping grow our future primary health care workforce.

We’re proud to have Haana, a Student Nurse, with us for 10 weeks as she completes her final placement before becoming a Registered Nurse.

We’re also fortunate to have Turuhira Marino, a Nurse Practitioner Intern, joining us for a few weeks for her secondary placement. Turuhira was recently named **2026 Intern of the Year** Congratulations Turuhira!

Alongside providing quality care to whānau, one of our priorities is supporting the growth and development of the primary health care workforce in our rohe.

Having students and interns join our team provides valuable opportunities to learn, grow, gain hands-on experience and build confidence in primary health care.

We’re proud to play a small part in supporting the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners while continuing to provide quality care for our whānau.

Nau mai, haere mai Haana and Turuhira, we’re so happy to have you with us!

Today at Tau Oranga, the team are excited to welcome Taniera, our new Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP).

Taniera will be based at Tau Oranga every Tuesday and Friday morning, and you may see her around when you're visiting us.

What is a Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP)?

A HIP is a registered mental health professional who works as part of your general practice team. They provide practical support to help people manage stress, anxiety, low mood, sleep concerns, lifestyle changes, and other challenges that can affect wellbeing. HIPs offer brief, solution-focused support to help you develop skills and strategies to improve your health and wellbeing.

Please join us in giving Taniera a warm welcome to the Tau Oranga whānau! 🌿

If you're not already enrolled with Tau Oranga, now is a great time to join our whānau. You can enrol by contacting our team, registering online, or simply popping into the clinic, we're always happy to help.

Nau mai, haere mai, Taniera!

On this International Nurses Day, we celebrate two extraordinary wāhine of Tau Oranga Health Care - Judy Davis (Ngāti Maniapoto) and Shona Tolley (Raukawa, Te Kaokaoroa o Patatere) alongside all nurses who uphold the mana and hauora of our people through aroha, manaaki, and unwavering service.

Sisters in nursing and sisters-in-law through their marriage to Te Arawa brothers, Judy and Shona first began their nursing journeys here on Pukeroa Hill in the 1970s.

Decades later, they have returned home to serve the very people and whenua that helped shape who they are.

At Tau Oranga, they bring far more than clinical expertise. They carry wisdom, strength, lived experience, and a deep commitment to whānau wellbeing. Their care reflects the true essence of nursing, walking alongside people through moments of challenge, healing, growth, and hope.

Judy and Shona embody manaaki, tiaki, and aroha in all they do. Fierce wāhine toa, devoted nannies, māmā, aunties, nurses, and proud descendants of their tūpuna continuing a legacy of care that nurtures our whānau today while investing in the wellbeing of our mokopuna tomorrow.

We are deeply privileged to have them within our Tau Oranga whānau and acknowledge the strength, sacrifice, and compassion they continue to give so generously to our communities.

Mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei - for us and future generations. 💙
