Therapeutic Massage New Zealand is one of the few countries where massage is not regulated.

Hi there, I am a fully qualified Registered Massage Therapist and graduate from the New Zealand College of Massage with Diploma in Health Science - Therapeutic Massage & Certificate in Relaxation Massage. I am also a member of Massage New Zealand & Kinesio Tape, and Myo-facial Cupping Practitioner. I have always had a love for massage from seeing and feeling the benefits this beautiful modality ca

n provide. Therefore its very important to check your Therapists Professional qualifications before booking in. I am a firm believer in the holistic approach to well being and really enjoy working with my clients to develop a specific treatment plan that best suits their needs and body requirements; whether it is a relaxation treatment to reduce stress and enhance well-being, or a specific treatment plan that addresses chronic soft-tissue dysfunction. I work out of my peaceful rurally located clinic just 4kms from Tahuna (Monday to Friday). I have had great results in working with a variety of clients from professional sportspeople and people with stressful lifestyles, to people presenting with chronic or acute muscular and postural dysfunction. The first session includes a postural analysis, range of movement testing (This determines muscle dysfunction and helps build an effective treatment plan). Home care advice and stretches and strengthening exercises are also provided to prolong the results of the treatment.

Clinic update: New appt times are now being scheduled into the Clinic due to growing demand for cupping.

🟣WHAT IS CUPPING?
Cupping therapy is a type of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation - more specifically known as myofascial decompression.

Factors like a sedentary lifestyle, poor posture, inflammation, overusing muscles or a muscle strain or injury can cause fascia (connective tissue fibers) to bind with the underlying soft tissues.

These myofascial adhesions or muscle adhesions, if not treated or released, lead to stiffness and pain. Over time, they can also result in tender muscle knots commonly known as trigger points, muscle weakness and restricted mobility.

Cupping therapy works by decompressing or separating the layers of muscle and fascia to break up these adhesions while simultaneously increasing local blood flow and oxygenation.

🟣WHAT IS CUPPING GOOD FOR?
Cupping is useful for musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia and other pain conditions such as headaches or migraines, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis and release of trigger points. So, athletes, weekend warriors or anyone with acute or chronic pain can benefit from cupping.

🟣CONTRAINDICATIONS
Cupping is contraindicated in patients on kidney dialysis, those with severe cardiovascular disease or in cancer patients undergoing immunosuppressive treatment.

In addition, cupping is also inadvisable for anyone with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia or taking blood thinners.

Winters friendly reminder

With winter here, there will be more cancellations due to coughs and colds.
And I appreciate you not coming to the clinic if unwell.

Your appointment is reserved especially for you. If you’re feeling unwell or unable to make it, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Same day notice is extremely tricky - especially if the notice comes in a few hours prior to the appt. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️🤯

This gives us time to offer the slot to another client and allows everyone to rearrange their schedules smoothly — particularly important given the travel required to reach the rural clinic. 🚗 🚗

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us support as many clients as possible. We really appreciate you!

And remember to bring your travel cups. New immune boosting take home fresh fruit and herbal teas. 🍋 🍯 🫚 🌿

🙏
Warm regards,

3-5 mins is all it takes to make a difference you can feel.

Legs up the wall with a slight hip elevation is a simple yet powerful position that supports both physical and nervous system balance. It helps lymphatic drainage, reduces swelling and fluid retention, and promotes healthy circulation to the face, and scalp. By gently stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, it helps shift the body out of stress, lowering heart rate, calming the mind, and reducing anxiety. This position also releases tension in the lower back and hips, supports digestion by aiding venous return, and promotes deep relaxation and better sleep. It’s a low effort, completely free movement that nourishes the body, and soothes the nervous system.

And there is proven clinical trial science on the benefits of tumeric and pepper (piperine).

See below if your a science geek like me

Here’s a direct link to a foundational clinical study on the effects of turmeric (curcumin) combined with black pepper (piperine):
Primary Study (Bioavailability Focus)
Title: Influence of piperine on the pharmacokinetics of curcumin in animals and human volunteers
• Authors: Shoba G, et al. (1998)
• Journal: Planta Medica

👉🏽 Link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9619120/

Key Finding: In healthy human volunteers, combining 2g of curcumin with 20mg of piperine increased curcumin bioavailability by approximately 2,000% (due to enhanced absorption and reduced metabolism). No adverse effects were noted at these doses. This is one of the most-cited human studies on the combination.
Other Relevant Clinical Trials
For broader effects (e.g., anti-inflammatory, antioxidant):
• Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in metabolic syndrome: PubMed link (curcuminoids + piperine).
• Effect of pepper on curcumin bioavailability (2023 pilot): PMC full text.
These are peer-reviewed human trials. Results can vary by dosage, formulation, and individual factors. Always consult a healthcare professional before using supplements, especially with medications.

Infared light therapy (ILT) uses low-level wavelengths to stimulate mitochondria, boosting cellular energy, reducing inflammation, and enhancing tissue repair. Key benefits include improved skin health (collagen production, reduced wrinkles), accelerated wound healing, pain management, improved sleep, and enhanced muscle recovery. It is generally safe and non-invasive.

Key Health Benefits of Red Light Therapy
Skin Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging: ILT increases collagen and elastin production, which reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It also helps with conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and skin damage.
🚨Muscle Recovery and Injury Repair: It is frequently used to accelerate muscle recovery, boost cell regeneration, and heal injuries by increasing blood flow to the treated area.
Pain Relief and Reduced Inflammation: 🚨ILT helps alleviate pain associated with chronic conditions like arthritis, joint pain, tendonitis, and neuropathic pain.
Improved Sleep Quality: Exposure to red light in the evening can help support better sleep by not suppressing melatonin, unlike blue light.
Hair Growth: Studies suggest that ILT can improve hair density in people with androgenic alopecia (hair loss).
Mood and Cognitive Function: Emerging research indicates that ILT might help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and may offer neuroprotective benefits for memory.
How It Works
🚨Red light therapy (often using wavelengths between 630nm-660nm) penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the mitochondria in cells, increasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production—the energy source for cells. This boosts circulation and encourages faster repair processes.
Safety and Usage
Usage: Treatments typically last 10–20 minutes and require consistency over several weeks to see results.
Risks: While safe, high-intensity, or over-exposure can lead to skin redness or swelling. It is crucial to wear protective goggles to prevent eye irritation.
