Our office for today: A season-defining trip over the hill.

This weekend we head to Sports Park Motueka to take on Huia in a match that could have a huge bearing on our season. With the business end of the competition approaching, every point matters, and this is one we need if we want to keep our quarter-final aspirations firmly alive.

Huia have been building nicely through the second half of the season and have put together some strong performances in recent weeks. They’re a side full of confidence, playing good rugby, and we know we’ll need to be switched on from the opening whistle.

While we’ll be opponents for 80 minutes, there’s plenty of mutual respect between our clubs. Huia and Collingwood both contribute heavily to the Country representative side, and many players know each other well through those connections.

We’d also like to acknowledge today’s referee, Hone Kareko. After facing some significant health challenges, it’s fantastic to see him back refereeing again. We know many around Nelson Bays rugby will be pleased to see him back where he belongs.

The lads have put themselves in a position where every game counts, and they’ll be looking to leave everything out on the park this afternoon.

Our office for today: A shot at the benchmark.

This weekend we welcome Stoke to the Collingwood Rugby Grounds in what shapes as one of our biggest challenges of the season. Sitting at the top of the table, they’ve put together a brilliant campaign so far and have rightly earned their place as the team everyone is chasing.

The lads are coming off a fantastic win in the Battle of the Bay, but anyone who was there knows the cost of that result. It took a huge effort, there were some massive collisions, and the boys have had to dig deep this week to get themselves ready to go again.

That’s the nature of rugby though. One challenge ends and another begins.

We know Stoke will arrive full of confidence, and we know we’ll need to be at our very best for the full 80 minutes. Games like this are why we play the game — testing yourself against the competition’s best and seeing where you stand.

Kick off is at 13:15 at the Collingwood Rugby Grounds.

Our office for today: A little bit different from our normal. The biggest battleground in Canterbury Rugby League.

This weekend the Hornby Panthers defend home turf against the Papanui Tigers in what promises to be a fierce and physical encounter at Leslie Park.

These two clubs have built their reputations on toughness, resilience, and never taking a backward step. When sides like this meet, ladder positions, form guides, and predictions don't mean much once the first whistle blows.

The Tigers will arrive looking to make a statement, while the Panthers will be determined to protect their own backyard in front of a passionate home crowd. Expect hard carries, big collisions, desperate defence, and eighty minutes of genuine Canterbury Rugby League.

There'll be no shortage of pride on the line this weekend.

Kick off is at 2:45pm at Leslie Park, Hornby.

If you're a Panthers supporter, or simply a fan of good rugby league, get down to Leslie Park and make some noise for the boys in black and white. This one has all the ingredients of a classic Canterbury Rugby League battle.

Our office for today: The biggest battleground in rural rugby.

This weekend we go to war with old foes Takaka Rugby Football Club in the quintessential local derby. Mate against mate, neighbour against neighbour — and once that whistle blows, none of it matters for 80 minutes.

This clash is always one of the biggest days on both clubs’ calendars, and there’s never a shortage of passion, pride, and hard rugby when these two sides meet.

Takaka roll in with a new-look side that’s still a bit of an unknown, but our lads have been building nicely and looking sharp heading into one of the biggest tests of the season.

There’ll be no love lost out there this weekend.
