Our office for today: A season-defining trip over the hill.
This weekend we head to Sports Park Motueka to take on Huia in a match that could have a huge bearing on our season. With the business end of the competition approaching, every point matters, and this is one we need if we want to keep our quarter-final aspirations firmly alive.
Huia have been building nicely through the second half of the season and have put together some strong performances in recent weeks. They’re a side full of confidence, playing good rugby, and we know we’ll need to be switched on from the opening whistle.
While we’ll be opponents for 80 minutes, there’s plenty of mutual respect between our clubs. Huia and Collingwood both contribute heavily to the Country representative side, and many players know each other well through those connections.
We’d also like to acknowledge today’s referee, Hone Kareko. After facing some significant health challenges, it’s fantastic to see him back refereeing again. We know many around Nelson Bays rugby will be pleased to see him back where he belongs.
The lads have put themselves in a position where every game counts, and they’ll be looking to leave everything out on the park this afternoon.
Kick off is at 13:45 at Sports Park Motueka.
If you are a true blue Collingwood Rugby Club NZ supporter, or just a fan of Golden Bay sport, get down to Sports Park Motueka and make some noise for our lads in Black & Gold. Your support could make all the difference in a game that means plenty for our season. 🖤💛🏉
