We all had a really great time for Melbourne Cup, with a visit from Earl and some board members. Val got arrested for illegal gambling and jockey No. 5 got dope tested by Linda the nurse for suspected cheating! There were lots of lovely hats and lots of laughs!

A lovely morning tea and a visit from Metlifecare's CEO Earl took place on Tuesday. This was the official opening of the new Serviced Apartment lift in the village. Everyone enjoyed themselves with some good food and a good chinwag with other residents. Shirley Jones had the honour of cutting the ribbon.

What a fun time we had at the International night last week. The outfits were great and people really joined in with the spirit of the theme. We danced, laughed and enjoyed a lovely meal cooked by Paul and all the willing staff who lent a hand, we ARE simply the best!

How dare we forget our lovely Ivy Hutton, who was the very last entrant on the catwalk! Ivy choose a beautiful ensemble created out of egg cartons too, many hours of work went into this fabulous outfit. Sorry Ivy!!!

Longford Park Village celebrated it's 5th annual Wearable Arts performance on Wednesday night. The incredible outfits that the ladies made just blew everyone away, with some residents making two or even three outfits! Many of these costumes took months to make, adapting things like egg cartons, black plastic bin bags, meant trays, wallpaper and newsletters! TV 3 Breakfast host William came to the village on Friday morning to showcase these talented ladies to the rest of New Zealand!! Well done ladies!!

Our Longford Easter Bunnies had a lot of fun delivering the delicious chocolate cookies that Metlifecare distributed to every resident and staff member last week. A great big thank you to residents Tricia Sexton and Linda O'Reilly who volunteered to help me to give them out on Wednesday afternoon, as you can see, they were gratefully received by all!

It was a beautiful day to kick off the new brand campaign for Metlifecare. Maria De Guzman from our Marketing Team joined yours truly to give out brochures for the staff and a giant bar of chocolate for all the staff and residents. Here are just a few of Longford Park's newly formed Ukulele group enjoying a practice in the sunshine. The group has about 21 members who meet every Tuesday at 4:30pm in the upstairs lounge.

An impromptu sausage sizzle accompanied with some much needed catch-ups (socially distanced of course) brought a smile to the face of residents yesterday. The sun was shining and people were on the putting green and everyone was just so happy!

Tune in for some lockdown entertainment tonight with a special online concert by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra at 8pm 🎵

The show will feature the Beethoven Symphonies 6 and 7, and all Metlifecare residents and friends are invited to watch for free.

Please note, the concert was recorded while New Zealand was at alert level 1.
