Kia ora wāhine mā,
We’re excited to offer Hapūtanga ki Hauraki, a FREE, one-day, mātauranga Māori–informed wānanga for hapū wāhine and their whānau.
This immersive experience celebrates hapūtanga, reconnects with taonga tuku iho, and provides practical guidance for the hapū journey, labour, and birth, with the central focus on māmā and pēpī in te ao Māori. You’ll connect with a community of experts—including midwives, mātanga Māori, lactation consultants, and safe sleep specialists—and gain knowledge on the history and rituals of hapūtanga in Aotearoa, pregnancy changes, stages of labour and birth, pain relief and medical intervention options, parenting, safe sleep, and breastfeeding.
The session is whānau-friendly and designed for whānau in their second and third trimesters (over 20 weeks), aiming to deepen understanding of your body and baby while building a supportive whānau network. Mark your calendar for Thames on the 12th June, 9:00 am–2:30 pm.
