🦠 WINTER BUGS ARE ON THE RISE 🤧
We are seeing an increase in coughs, colds, and flu-like illnesses.
Virus action plan 🦠🤒
What you have 🤧
* Most likely a viral infection affecting your ears, nose, throat, sinuses, or chest.
* Symptoms may last up to 10 days.
* A cough that can last up to 4 weeks.
Antibiotics 💊
* Antibiotics do not work against viruses.
* They won't help you recover faster.
* Taking antibiotics when not needed can cause side effects and make them less effective in the future.
How to recover 💤
* Get plenty of rest and sleep.
* Avoid strenuous exercise.
* Drink lots of fluids (water is best).
* Follow medicine instructions carefully.
Managing symptoms
Fever
* Use a cool cloth on your face, hands, and neck.
* Wear light clothing and avoid too many blankets.
Aches, pains, sore ears, sinus pain, sore throat
* Paracetamol and/or ibuprofen may help.
Sore throat or cough
* Throat gargles or sprays.
* Lozenges.
* Gargle warm salt water several times a day.
* Drink warm honey and lemon drinks.
Blocked or runny nose
* Saline nasal spray or drops.
* Decongestants (if suitable for you).
* Vapour rub (e.g. Vicks) on your chest or back.
