Across the fields where soft winds sigh,

Could you represent New Zealand in the Pony Club International Alliance Virtual Quiz 2026?

NZPCA will be selecting a team of four riders to represent New Zealand in the international PCIA Virtual Quiz this October.

This is a fantastic opportunity for members with a passion for Horse Management and Pony Club knowledge to challenge themselves, build confidence, and connect with the wider international Pony Club community.

Two online Kahoot quizzes will be held to select the NZ team.

Quiz 1, Tuesday 14 July, 7.00 pm
Quiz 2, Thursday 16 July, 7.00 pm

Open to all current NZPCA financial members aged 25 years and under. Ideal for members working at C+ certificate level and above, or anyone keen to grow their Horse Management knowledge.

# The Story of Goldleigh Stud: From Breeding Champions to Building Confidence

Goldleigh Stud began with a passion for horses and a dream of breeding quality ponies and horses that could make a difference in people's lives. Over the years, Goldleigh Stud became known for producing wonderful horses and ponies with exceptional temperaments, athletic ability, and heart.

This all started with a pony called Barron, a golden buckskin stallion who was rescued when his future looked uncertain. He went on to become a much-loved pony, teaching countless children to ride, competing successfully, raising money for charities, and proving that every horse deserves a chance.

Throughout the years, many horses passed through Goldleigh Stud. Some became successful competition horses, while others became trusted family companions. Yet one thing became clear: the greatest gift horses offer is not ribbons or trophies; it is the confidence they help us build.

For over 40 years, I have worked with riders of all ages, helping them overcome fear, develop trust, and rediscover the joy of riding or just being around a horse. Time and again, I have seen horses transform people's lives by teaching patience, resilience, courage, and self-belief.

Today, Goldleigh Stud is entering a new chapter.

While horses remain at the heart of everything I do, my focus is now expanding beyond breeding and training. I am passionate about helping riders and non-riders build confidence, strengthen their connection with horses, and achieve goals they never thought possible.

This journey has inspired me to create a Horse Confidence Course designed to help riders overcome anxiety, improve communication with their horse, and ride with greater confidence and enjoyment.

Goldleigh Stud started with breeding horses. Today, it is about helping people discover the confidence, courage, and belief that horses can awaken within us all.

Because sometimes the greatest thing a horse can produce isn't a champion foal, it's a champion mindset.

That last line would also make a great tagline:

Horses read energy before they read movement. They know when another needs reassurance, grounding, or simply to be seen. Watching this unfold is why I believe so deeply in herd wisdom and healing, sometimes the medicine is just standing close and listening without fixing.
