This week I was reminded to stop being so busy creating a life that you forget to live the one you have.

What a gift that reminder was.

Thankyou to my clients that cheered me on from the sidelines and allowed me this opportunity.
It was a good thing alot of you were on taper week for Taupo!!

School holidays were the perfect excuse. Kids underfoot, no time, chaos — very understandable. Next week that excuse expires.

Back in the clinic and taking bookings. If that niggle’s been on the “deal with it eventually” list, this is eventually.

Ghillie tagging along to clinic because school holidays have cancelled our mental health walks. Nothing says work-life balance like a dog side-eyeing you from the treatment table.

Movement is so multifaceted. It helps us beyond the physical changes to our body…

Scroll through health content for five minutes and you’ll find a protocol for everything.
Zone 2 targets. Optimal rep ranges. Sleep scores. All useful. I preach it on this page.

But somewhere in the optimisation we stopped asking simpler questions.
When did you last feel wonder?
When did you last rest — properly, not “recovery day” rest, but the kind where your nervous system actually lets go?
When did you last do something just because it was joyful, not because it served a metric?

You can have a perfectly periodised training block and still be running on empty.
Purpose, connection, curiosity, joy. All important. A body without them doesn’t recover the same, doesn’t adapt the same, doesn’t want to show up the same.

So I ask you this:

When was the last time you moved for the pure joy of it.
To see a place unseen.
To spend time in nature.
To learn.
To connect with others.
To build community.
To give back.
To laugh.

If you cant remember then maybe let this be a reminder to revel in awe, to take your time in nature, to walk with a friend.

Now that I am back with a packed work schedule I am having to be mindful of the above. I am good and putting the big events in the calendar ( getting my dopamine fix on the trails) but I neglect to sprinkle it through my weeks. Joy is not something I should reserve for when I have more time. I am worthy of it daily and so are you.

Say Yes to Life program is built to be accessible first, especially the pilates portion — mat-based, minimal kit, do it anywhere. But when a subscriber asked for a reformer option, I couldn't say no.

Here's a clip from the new reformer class, now part of the on-demand library.

Comment YES and I'll send it to your inbox.
