Aunty Lizzie’s Respite Providing respite with a difference

July… where is this year going?! 🌿💛

July was another month full of adventures, connection, and making memories at Aunty Lizzie’s Respite.

We kicked the month off with an epic visit to Mad Mike Motorsport, where Logan was lucky enough to catch up with his mate, the man himself, Mad Mike! We checked out the incredible cars, had a chat, collected some signed merch, and then enjoyed lunch at the café… served by a robot! 🤖 Safe to say that was a highlight.

This month we were also excited to welcome Aunty Shaz to the team. She has fitted in so naturally, and we’re so excited to have her alongside us. thanks for choosing to come have fun with us all Shaz.

Our days were filled with all the simple things we love, cooking together, farm walks, community adventures, plenty of laughs, and a fun trip to Butterfly Creek, complete with a train ride.

Not every moment was easy, with a few unexpected hospital visits along the way, but thankfully everyone came out the other side doing well. 💛

We also teamed up with Sophie and co from Bud’s Support for a visit to the Cat Café… and I think every one of us wanted to sneak a fluffy Ragdoll Cat home! 🐱😂

To finish the month, Craig and I headed off to Hawaii for a couple of weeks to rest, recharge, and fill our own cups. Looking after others is such a privilege, and taking time to reset means we come back ready for even more adventures with our amazing young people and whānau.

A huge thank you to every family who continues to trust us. We can’t wait to see what the second half of the year has in store! 💙

💛 Aunty Lizzie's Whānau is Growing! 💛

Over the past three years, Aunty Lizzie's Respite has grown more than I ever imagined, and that's all because of the incredible trust and support from our amazing whānau.

As we continue to grow, it's time to welcome a couple of extra pairs of caring hands.

I'm so excited to introduce Aunty Shaz and Aunty Sophie, who will be joining Aunty Lizzie's Respite during our busier times.

Both Shaz and Sophie bring years of experience in disability support and caregiving, but even more importantly, they bring kindness, compassion, patience, and a genuine love for supporting others.

I feel incredibly lucky to have found two amazing women who share the same heart and values for caring for children and young people.

Please join me in giving Aunty Shaz and Aunty Sophie a big Aunty Lizzie's welcome! 💛

June… where did you go?! Have I said that every month as the months are flying past!!

It started off slow, then suddenly… BAM! Aunty Lizzie’s was bursting at the seams.

This month we supported whānau with extended holidays, stepped in during unexpected hospital stays, continued our regular respite, and welcomed a new face to the Aunty Lizzie’s whānau.

Every day looked a little different. We enjoyed forest walks, beach adventures, oyster shucking (and tasting!), Friday night dance parties, bowling, and plenty of fun at home, and birthday celebrations to finish the month off! That’s the beauty of respite—you never quite know where the day will take you.

A real highlight was being featured in the Dear Frankie newsletter. It made it even more special that it was published during the week Aunty Lizzie’s celebrated 3 years of caring for children and young people with disabilities.

If you want a read you will find it Dear Frankie

Three years… wow. 💛

To every whānau who has trusted me with your precious children over the past three years—thank you. Your support, trust, and belief in Aunty Lizzie’s have helped grow this little dream into something truly special.

As we continue to grow, I’m excited to share that you’ll soon be meeting another amazing Aunty who’ll be joining the team to help continue providing the love, care, and quality support our families deserve.

Watch this space… exciting things are ahead. ✨

For those who know me, you might not know that I’ve been using dōTERRA oils and wellness products for over 7 years. IYKYK!! 🥰 there’s an oil for everything!!

While I’ve spent the last few years focused on building Aunty Lizzie’s Respite, one thing that hasn’t changed is my daily use of these products.

💛 My Lifelong Vitality Pack (LLV) is a non-negotiable. I genuinely believe it plays a huge role in helping me maintain my energy, support my wellbeing, and keep up with the busy life I love.

🧒 As for the children and young people who spend time with us, oils are often one of the first things I reach for to help support emotions, transitions, calm moments, and bedtime routines.

🤗I’m passionate about sharing simple, natural tools that can support you and your whānau in everyday life.

If you’ve ever been curious about essential oils, natural wellness, reducing toxins in your home, or learning how to support your family’s health naturally, we’d love to see you there.

The Adventures of May with Aunty Lizzie 💛

Every month brings so much joy as we share everyday life with each and every one of the children and young people who come and stay with us. That’s one of the things I love most about Aunty Lizzie’s Respite — you never quite know what the day will bring.

Some days are quiet and relaxed, other days we’re running errands, exploring the farm, getting out in the community, or packing our bags and heading off on an adventure!

This month saw us enjoying duck shooting weekend on the farm, motorbike rides, a Spirit of Adventure voyage, Pink Shirt Day, sunny farm walks, plenty of downtime, a road trip from Auckland to Wellington, staying on the marae, connecting with other whānau, and learning along the way.

Over the years, I’ve learned that respite means something different to every family. For some it’s a chance to catch up on sleep, for others it’s time to focus on siblings, work, relationships, appointments, or simply to take a moment to recharge.

“Respite is more than a break — it’s the space for families and caregivers to refill their cup, knowing their loved one is safe, valued, included, and having adventures of their own.” ✨💛

Hope you all have a beautiful Mothers Day 💐
