is celebrating the opportunity for 31 women MPs from 14 Pacific to take "part in a wānanga hosted by the New Zealand Parliament, with a focus on 'decision-making and influencing change across the Pacific.'"

Currently "women make up just 7.7 percent of MPs across Oceania" (excluding New Zealand and Australia). For the future of all communities, it is vital for more diverse voices to be heard and represented in leadership, including MPs.

For decades, parliamentary politics across the Pacific region has largely been shaped by men. This week, women parliamentarians from across the region gathered in Wellington with a focus on changing that.

Today we highlight the research report titled 'Understanding attitudes towards sexual and reproductive health in the Kingdom of Tonga.'

This report was conducted as part of the Amanaki Lelei project, co-funded by New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa, implemented in partnership with Tonga Family Health Association. The Supreme Court of India recently took another step in recognising the value and contribution a homemaker adds to their household and country by awarding monthly compensation in loss of domestic and caregiving services. The court wrote, “Housewives contribute to the household. They are nation builders. They build the nation."
