Would you believe that swearing can be an effective way of coping with labour pain, especially if you do not usually swear? 😂

There are many scientific reasons behind this that are not always easy for us to understand, but you can imagine that swearing brings a form of emotional release, which can make physical sensations feel less overwhelming.

This reel is made from my prenatal yoga course. As I was editing it, I realised that as I support so many parents through this special journey, they are also witnessing my journey as a teacher, a birth worker, a mum, and a woman. 🥹

If you already swear a lot 😅 and want to know more about other non-pharmaceutical ways of coping with labour pain, watch my last reel for some tips. 😊

"Your classes have provided so much more than yoga - they have offered support, connection, and calm through such a transformative time in life." This is a very special card from Mumma M. 💓 What touches me also is the little umbrella she and baby C drew and painted. For anyone who I have supported, you will know all about my signature umbrella breathing. ☂️

The card made me realise something. Long before I became a doula, many of the things I value most were already part of my teaching: holding space, offering reassurance, and reminding parents to breathe and trust themselves.

It also reminds me that it is time for me to breathe. Over the past year, I have poured so much of myself into creating and shaping Breathe Move You that I have rarely stopped to take a breather. I'm currently spending a month in Asia with my family, I look forward to slowing down, being present, and possibly coming up with some new ideas. ✨️

If you are pregnant or newly postpartum, my next round of prenatal and postnatal courses starts on July 22. I would love to support you.

Because just like the umbrella in Mumma M's card, my role is not to take away every challenge. It is to walk alongside you especially when the days feel rainy or stormy, helping you feel held, supported, and never alone on this special journey. 💛

Jemma's birth story is a beautiful reminder that does not have to feel scary when we feel connected to our body and mind.

After a relatively challenging first birth, Jemma joined my Prenatal Yoga Course and Breathe Move Birth Workshop during her second pregnancy. Recently, she came back to the workshop with her third pregnancy and shared her story with us.

If we look purely at movement and biomechanics, she used many of the tools we practised together:
🤓 Early labour: tucking the pelvis like Michael Jackson
🤩 Active labour: asymmetrical movements
🤰 Pushing stage: feet out, knees in
But here is the interesting part, she was not trying to remember: "what movement should I do now?", her body took over and guided her through labour.

Through practice, movement became muscle memory. That is why I am so passionate about helping parents move during pregnancy. It is not about memorising techniques, it is about creating the mobility, awareness, and confidence to trust your body when the big day arrives.

One of my favourite moments from Jemma's story was hearing her say, "I could do this again." What a transformation. ✨

Have you ever finished something challenging and surprised yourself by thinking, "Actually... I could do this again"?

🤰"How can I prevent tearing during childbirth?"
🤰"My biggest fear is tearing."

These are two of the most common concerns I hear from the expectant mums I support.
While there is no single way to guarantee no tearing, there are many things that may support your body during birth, from movement and positioning to breath, nervous system regulation, and understanding how labour unfolds.

I have written a new blog sharing what may help and what is important to understand when it comes to tearing during childbirth, with the hope of helping you feel more informed, reassured, and confident heading into birth.

This week I spent some time organising the love notes from our Summer term. 💓

I was originally going to make the heart shape with all love notes bigger, but somehow a rainbow shape appeared beside it instead. A reminder of the emotions, growth, and transformation that happen in this space.

Turning your passion into your work is not always the easiest path. But these notes on the wall remind me why I keep doing what I do.

Knowing that this work can reduce fear around birth, support families to walk into birth feeling more grounded and empowered makes me fall in love with this work again and again. 🥰

Peace on earth begins with birth. ✨️

Happy belated Mother’s Day 🩷

When I was growing up, people always told me I had long fingers and should play piano. I started learning as a child, but didn’t continue, and for many years I carried a quiet regret about that.
Who would have thought that 30 years later, I would be learning piano again alongside my children.

One of the most unexpected parts of motherhood is that we don’t just raise our children, we grow with them too. Sometimes that means learning new skills together. Sometimes it means revisiting parts of our own childhood, healing old stories, and continuing to grow as a parent and as a person. ✨️

Motherhood can bring so much self-doubt. We wonder if we are doing enough, giving enough, being enough. So if you need this reminder today, believe that to your child, you are the best mum they could ever ask for. 💛
