โ„๏ธ โ€œMy horse isnโ€™t doing much over winterโ€ฆโ€

I hear this a lot.

But take a look at this paddockโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿด

Those skid marks tell a different story.

Horses may not be competing, schooling, or in full work, but theyโ€™re still running, playing, bucking, spinning, slipping, skidding to a stop, and navigating wet, uneven ground.

Every one of those sudden turns and stops places strain through the body โ€” shoulders, back, pelvis, SI region, and limbs.

Most horses are incredibly good at compensating, which means little niggles can quietly build up long before we notice a problem.

Thatโ€™s why bodywork isnโ€™t just for horses that are in hard work or actively showing signs of discomfort.

Regular treatments can help identify and release areas of tension before they become bigger issues, helping your horse stay comfortable, balanced, and moving freely through the winter months ๐ŸŒฟ

Because even when theyโ€™re โ€œjust being horses,โ€ theyโ€™re still using their bodies every single day ๐Ÿ’›

Who elseโ€™s paddocks are covered in winter zoomie skid marks? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿดโ€ ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’œ A little reassurance for my wonderful clientsโ€ฆ

You may have noticed Iโ€™ve been sharing some behind-the-scenes photos and updates about a few equine wellness products Iโ€™ve been developing.

While Iโ€™m incredibly excited about this new journey, I wanted to reassure everyone that Leanneโ€™s Equine Therapy isnโ€™t going anywhere!

My passion has always been helping horses feel and perform at their best through hands-on therapy, and that remains my primary focus.

I will continue to offer the same care, support and treatments that many of you have trusted me with over the years, including:

โœจ CranioSacral Therapy
โœจ Equine Touch
โœจ Photonic Red Light Therapy

The products Iโ€™m developing are simply an extension of what I already do every dayโ€”supporting horses naturally and helping owners tackle some of the common challenges I see in practice.

Whether itโ€™s through bodywork, rehabilitation support, or carefully developed wellness products, my goal remains exactly the same:

๐Ÿ’œ Helping horses feel their best.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey so far. I truly appreciate every horse, every client, and every opportunity to make a difference.

๐ŸŒฟNatural Hoof Paste Trial Update ๐Ÿด

Batch 2 is officially underway!

After using all of my first test batch, I made two new versions today to compare. One follows the original recipe, while the second includes a small tweak that has already improved the texture and tackiness.

Product development is rarely a straight line, but itโ€™s fascinating seeing how small changes can make a big difference.

One of the biggest challenges with a hoof product is creating something that not only supports healthy hooves, but can also stand up to a muddy New Zealand winter! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿด

Next step:
โžก๏ธ Trial both batches on the ponies.
โžก๏ธ Compare how well they stay in cracks and the central sulcus.
โžก๏ธ Monitor hoof condition and retention.

Iโ€™ll keep sharing the results as we go!

Has anyone else been battling mud, thrush, seedy toe or central sulcus issues this winter? ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿด Hoof Paste Trial Update #1

Many of you saw my post yesterday about something new Iโ€™ve been working on behind the scenes.

Over the years, one of the frustrations Iโ€™ve had with hoof products is how quickly some of them disappear once a horse heads back out into wet paddocks.

So Iโ€™ve been trialling the first prototype of a new hoof paste designed to:

โœ” Support thrushy frogs
โœ” Support seedy toe and white line disease
โœ” Stay in deep cracks and cavities
โœ” Help create a barrier against wet, muddy conditions

The first test has been on one of my own horses, who has some fairly challenging hoof cracks and defects.

After a day in a very wet paddock, some of the surface paste had been pushed out of the larger openings (which wasnโ€™t surprising).

What did surprise me was that when I cleaned the mud away, I found the paste was still present deep inside the cracks and tracts.

For the next stage of testing, Iโ€™ve packed the deeper cavities with cotton wool as well as the paste to see if that improves retention even further.

So far, itโ€™s looking promising. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™ll keep sharing updates as the trial continues.

๐Ÿด Something new is comingโ€ฆ

Over the last 20+ years working with horses, there are a few issues I see over and over again:

๐Ÿ”น Thrush
๐Ÿ”น Seedy toe
๐Ÿ”น White line disease
๐Ÿ”น Deep central sulcus cracks
๐Ÿ”น Hooves constantly battling wet conditions

Iโ€™ve often wished there was a product that could not only support healthy hooves, but also stay where it was needed most.

So Iโ€™ve been busy developing something new.

The first test batches are underway, and Iโ€™m excited to see how they perform in real-world muddy winter conditions.
