Introduction

EQUITEETH is a qualified professional equine dentistry service available to all equines and other equidae. By involving routine oral and dental care in a horse’s life it can help not only the horse to peak potential performance but also peak condition and prolong its’ quality and length of life in general. Various pathology (problems) can be the etiology (cause) for poor dental healt

h and are described to be genetic, congenital, environmental, trauma or wear related etc. Regular preventative and restorative dental care can be vital to a horse’s quality of life as the pathology can then be addressed, maintained and balanced to prevent any further decay of not only dental health but systemic and overall health in time. Service

An initial imbalance in a horse’s dentition can cause a domino effect of dysfunction to surrounding dentition, dental tissues and eventually surrounding and forgiving structures such as the Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) which is compulsory for any animals chewing motion. A horse is known to only require 2 and a half hours sleep to function at minimum, their stomach empty’s 7-8 times a day and chews an estimated 30,000 times a day so having fully functioning teeth, TMJ and oral cavity is essentially vital for a healthy horse. Imbalance throws of a horse’s dentition away from its genetic intention therefore EQUITEETH focuses on restoring this balance to prevent malocclusion's causing dysfunction and deterioration of the oral cavity and systemically the whole horse.

Some of the worst mouths I’ve seen have been horses that are “doing well” and not putting a foot wrong. Always hearing they don’t need a dental as are well conditioned, eating fine or they don’t do much is not justification. By the time it becomes a problem you can see it means there are significant problems we have to address sometimes over a series of treatments, sometimes irreversible damage not only to teeth but a domino effect on the entire body and its functions.

Prevention is always better than the cure. 🐴💜
